I'm surprised he seems to be in front of Foyth, of the 2 I consider Foyth the better option.

Seeing if Bournemouth fancy taking him as part of a deal to get either Wilson or King seems a good option to me.

At centre back I don’t.

Foyth has scared the shit out of me when he’s played there, either getting silly bookings or looking shaky.

If anything I would continue to try to convert Foyth to right back.

If keeping CCV and selling Foyth gives us enough money to buy a better striker then it should be something we consider as we also have Davies to cover CB so we are well stacked in that position.

I actually think CCV would do well in a Mourinho back 4, the way he sets up.

Some players just get stuck in this "limbo" in a sense. Not bad players, but unless they continue playing they just won't develop enough to actually be good enough for us.

To me CCV falls into that category. Would love to be mistaken, but even if he was say slightly better than Sanchez how would he ever get the chance to show that? If he plays 7 games and does well does that mean Sanchez won't get back in the team after let's say an injury? For the position CCV is in he kind of randomly has to get a shot and when he gets it he has to play sensationally well to be able to keep his place. Nothing for me that suggests that will happen. And unless he signs a new contract loaning him out again would also be rather pointless.

Just one of these things I guess. I wish him the best if he ends up leaving. And even if I don't think it is likely he will ever play regularly for a top 6 team in the PL I do believe he could have a very solid career. Very well as a PL player at some point.
Agreed. CCV has looked decent in some of his league cup and pre-season appearances over the years, but has never had a run in the team to prove himself. CB seems to be one of the hardest positions for young players to break through in, as a mistake so often leads to a goal. It was probably far lower risk to give opportunities in CM to Winks and Skipp when they first joined the first team.

Back when Wimmer was 23, he had a really good run alongside Alderweireld, while Vertonghen was out injured, and looked like a great long-term prospect for the club. Once Vertonghen was match-fit, Wimmer didn't get a look in and had to make do with sporadic appearances without the chance to build match form (making it even more difficult to impress) and he hasn't fulfilled his perceived potential.

He does look more suited to a Mourinho back 4 than a Poch (or Guardiola) back 4.

Puzzling to say the least. He's HG and would be a real asset in these next two weeks.

Maybe he gets a move in October, but I really don't know if :

Dier-Toby
Sanchez-Foyth
and maybe
Davies/Tanganga in a pinch, though there are fitness concerns on both

can cover 3 matches a week.

I would thought he'd get games in the cup games at least. Must mean that he is set to leave pretty soon then.

More time for Fagan Walcott (if he is fit, he was injured some time ago). CCV was always gonna get sold, we are lucky he had a good loan spell.

@Rob is this link credible enough to get old CCV moved to the TF? What with the lack of a squad number too, seems it’s the best place for him.

Unless we didn’t want him ( fuck knows who we want ), I don’t know why he wasn’t used as part of a deal for Wilson.

I hope we've got a decent fee for him, he's worth at least £6-7m in today's market for a lad who's still young and plays well at Championship level.
