Haven't been on SC properly for a while so only just seen this. All the best to Callum and his family in what I'm sure is a frightening time. My nephew was born with a spinal defect which meant we knew before he was even born that he may never walk. My brother and his wife, who were both only early-20s at the time, went through the ringer as the prognosis on how disabled their son would be varied from one scan to the next. Since his birth 6 and a half years ago he has had numerous operations and I'd be lying if I said it has been easy for my brother and, in particular his (now ex-)wife. Amazingly, little Josh just gets on with it. He's active and happy and makes the whole family tremendously proud every day. He interacts with other children like any little boy would, and its heartening how understanding and supportive strangers are to him, young and old. Most importantly, and perhaps relevant in Callum's case, we've found lots of ways in which the community are supportive for those who wish to remain active despite suffering from physical disabilities. Josh now takes part in wheelchair basketball with other people of all ages, and has been invited to take part in many other activities and clubs aimed at young people in Josh's position. The point of all the above is to remain positive, and to know that no matter how tough things can get for you Callum, and your family, none of you wil be alone and there is overwhelming support available all over for all of you on the road to recovery. Thinking of you all.

Hi MilkyBarYid

Just a quick question but who is Callum's favourite player?

I only ask, cause many years back, believe it was 1992 my stepson from my previous marriage was born blind. One Sunday morning we read an article in one of the Sunday papers, that a young girl had been sent to some Russian eye clinic to try and cure her sight, which was the same diagnosis as my stepson.

We looked at ways of raising money, and it hit the local paper. When interviewed and asked if he could have sight what would be the 1st things he would like to see, and his reply was "a London Bus, and Gary Lineker play for Spurs"

A little while after we got a call that the operation wasn't a success, then we got a call from the club offering us 4 tickets to see Spurs v Southampton, then a visit to the players lounge after to meet Gary Lineker. At time Gary was either ill himself when he suffered glandular fever or it was at a time when his child was diagnosed with lukemia. That day he turned up and made that boys day.

I don't know if the club still does things but I know they did a couple of years ago for someone on my sisters son-in-laws side of the family.

I know it's a long shot, but perhaps contacting the club with the name of his favourite player, perhaps they might consider doing something even like a visit to the hospital where Callum is. Something like that might trigger a response, and help him out of the coma.

Still with ya Callum hope we get some more positive news today

Thanks mate, his favourite player is Aaron Lennon, Callum lives in Leeds where Aaron is from, Callum is a fast little winger too as described by his mum.

Well I'm sure Lennon if contacted would be willing to try a visit as he is apparently still sidelined. Gotta try every angle to try and get Callum through this.

God I wished I had contacts, perhaps twittering Gomes could lead to something as he has sent his wishes on

What a lovely idea above for SC'ers to to donate a little something to Callum when he (we all dearly hope) makes a recovery. I have an idea if I can gatecrash this:

If we all put in say £1 or £2 to a justgiving/similar page and that money goes towards one of the Tottenham packages for Callum and his mum or dad. One of those packages on the Official Site where you turn up, have a tour, meet a player or legend, have lunch and then get a ticket. If we all pledge £2 then it only needs a couple of hundred of us 20,000 or so members on here to give this lad something to really look forward to.

Just an idea.

Tried tweeting Azza myself but not sure how To work it on an IPad, just come out as a tweet to everyone that follows me, which ain't a help cause I don't really use it.

I'm up for putting in the coffers if the SC community want to sort something out for WHEN he recovers. not sure if Rob or A&C have followed this, but if they have is there is anyway we could do it via the donate link on front page and go from there?

Gary Mabbutt may be the man to contact initially. I'm sure he and some of the other players would do a hospital visit and arrange for a special match day when Callum is better and able to go out.

I'd rather not disclose that yet without checking with his mum first.

Absolutely. To be honest if it was me I probably wouldn't make that Information public myself. I was just thinking that if he's not in a London hospital then it would be harder to arrange something.
