I think that's harsh calling one of our hardest working players "a shit". In any context. I hope we put that erroneous narrative to rest.

Just saying.

It’s my stupid phone who for some reason always writes a random a in the middle of a sentence

What I meant was he’s shit/very bad in terms of his technical ability but he didn’t stop running in the second half, hence why I gave him a shoutout

People need to realise that we "scraped" a 1-0 because we effectively chose to, we got the goal and then made sure they didn't get one back, we could have gone for another and may or may not have got one but we'd have certainly been less safe at the back. We got the winner and managed the game, they didn't look like scoring after that did they?
I mean, we didnt score until late. So we effectively did scrape by with a 1-0 win. Wasnt pretty by any means but 3 points and a clean sheet is all we could ask for.

Had missed your original comment but traced it back having read this, and now I can’t stop giggling at, “He’s a shit.” :D

Perhaps a draw would have the been the best result for the world, but wow, according to some here we were actually lucky to win? Deary me.

The biggest chance from both side came from a corner - the only difference was we took ours, but they didn't take theirs.

Lucky would be Kane blocking that header with his back facing them, but no. He made his move to the goal trying to defend.

Lucky would be the header from Kane heading goalwards found a puzzled Son whose head directed that header from Kane onto another Burnley defender and deflected in, but no. Both knew what they were doing and were doing them right in that split seconds.

Geez. Such victory was a great underlining of team efficiency, and also the the opposition to their credit, yet some just chose to be so reasonable and special amongst all nights and amongst every fans to discredit everything the team had done by just saying 'we are lucky'. Ffs.

We still really defend corners and crosses badly. I can understand why we got the swansea CB in . We need a commanding presence in the air. Dier doesnt have it

Great win .
We either fell in to how Burnley wanted the game to go ( and still won),
dropped to Burnleys level ( still won)
or deliberately went toe to toe in a slug fest on purpose ( still won) .
The back 4 and midfield was picked for that battle with height and strength and saw it over the line .
Not many free kicks in that last 3rd of the pitch conceded that cost us Newcastle and west ham points.
Well done Jose and the team !.

I wouldn't say a lucky win ... but we had the rub of the green to avoid what looked like a dour chance-light draw imo. Lucky in the sense that a flip of a coin win is lucky .Coulda gone either way vs a team with one point . Bit of a dose of reality after recent telephone number wins imo.

Lloris was our commanding presence in the air at the end of the game. Those two claims he made from corners were vital.

I love Spurs, but if you paid £15 to watch that I salute you - dismall stuff.
I struggle to understand how they sell any season tickets.
I know football is all about different styles etc, but fuck paying good money to go and watch that every other week.

Honestly wouldn't miss them one bit if they went down.

Only because he let 2 earlier one's drift into the 6 yard box, one which Tarkowski messed up and another which Kane saved us on the line. Probably realised after that he can't trust the defenders to sort it.

Good win, clean sheet, I said to my mate before the game, Burnley away I hate more than the big boys because you know they are going to be physical and limit you to chances. It was exactly that and we took the 1 chance we had. And if you asked any team in the league you have 1 chance in a game to win it, who would you want on it? At the moment, it's Son. He is in fine form and long may it continue.

As for the subs, I think Jose was going to bring on Vinicius because he was a bit more physical than our other options and would have allowed Kane to find a bit more space. But its nice to know we do have that option now in these type of games. Thought Toby was excellent last night, won a lot of aerial duels, thought he would have gone off after that incident early on.

Just as happy that we finally got a clean sheet, hopefully we can build on those now. Need to get our first home win this weekend and everything is looking set up to be a very exciting season.

There’s still a lot left in him. I hope we give him a new contract (after Sonny signs his).

If you win a game that you don’t really deserve to I class that as lucky, it could easily have gone the other way. I’m happy we won and think we were owed that luck from previous games as I’ve send In a previous post
Why didn't we deserve to win that?

We had 68% possession
We had 3 shots on target to Burnley's 4 plus another 4 blocked shots from inside the box.
We made close to double the passes Burnley made in the match.
We kept pushing throughout the match, fashioned a chance late in the game and took our chance.

I don't see that as lucky. I see it as persistent. You make your own luck.

Still even if that's the case that's a captain doing a captain's job.

A brilliant performance and a deserved 3 points. Burnley will improve and a few teams will get turned over by them.We showed a gritted attitude which will win games when not playing fancy football. Before we had to play to our potential and rely on it being our day. I hope the day of being bullied has passed and we grow into what we are experiancing at the moment and its not just a fad.

I keep reading that we didn't play well and got lucky. I must have watched a completely different match. I thought we played very, very well. Nicely organised, kept the focus switched on for most of the match, kept Burnley at bay, forced them into rash shots and otherwise didn't give them much of anything. Kept working at it and scored one crucial goal in a nice player combo. The subs were good too. Especially Lamela, who must be positioning himself for a starting slot.
