People keep talking about a CE replacement. I always thought he was a CM. And we are stocked for the creative/transition role.

If someone could enlighten me it would be greatly appreciated
Fernandes, Lo Celso, and Eriksen are all similar players in a positional sense with all three having the creative and attacking attributes to be an effective #8 or #10. Whether you view GLC as the Eriksen replacement or Fernandes is simply a matter of choice if those 2 come in and Eriksen leaves. Depending on the formation we ultimately run this season, I can see Fernandes more likely being deployed as a #10 and Lo Celso playing as a creative midfielder especially if we operate with a three man midfield. Both are improvements on CE in a defensive sense.

Interesting. Could it just be that we’ve given up on Lo Celso? Or maybe this is the last throw of the dice to get Betis to soften their negotiation stance?

I dunno. I won’t believe there is any truth in this deal until JJ confirms.
I think if it was merely to pressure Betis, we’d have leaked stories that we were interested. Sending officials to Portugal just to pressure them seems a bit weird.

I am choosing to believe that it is Fernandes and Lo Celso with Eriksen leaving.

Herc just confirmed our interest in the ITK daily. Also stated that CE hasn't signed the contract he agreed to.

I don't know how some people are coming up with signing BOTH GLC and Bruno lmao after recent events, I would take either, preferably Fernandes.

I like the notion that we are finally getting shit done and want to conclude this ASAP, so that's what I'm choosing to believe, at least today

Just seems weird that JJ categorically denied we were interested. And now this. If Fernandes was always on list then I just don’t think JJ would have called the previous reports a lie. We’ll soon see though.

Doesn't seem that farfetched tbh.

GLC was allegedly always a target independent of Eriksen leaving and if we've finally given up on him signing a new deal it makes sense that we'd look for a replacement.

I’m thinking of it this way - if someone asked JJ in May two years ago if we were gonna sign Llorente, he probably would’ve said no way - probably because we had other targets and it was widely thought Chelsea would sign him. But then we know from Llorente himself that he only spoke to Poch the day before deadline day when the opportunity presented itself. Could be a similar situation here.

Not going to pretend this is based on anything other then reading a couple of articles and youtube videos, but his style of play does seem quite similar to Eriksen except he shoots more because his team isn't as good.

If he’s an alternative to GLC, then fair enough. If he’s an Eriksen replacement then GLC needs brought in too.

If DKP is confirming it, it’s either true, or the club are letting him think it is so that Betis feel under pressure.

I think that’s what Gards was hinting at. Eriksen off and we’re after those 2.

Whether we sign him or not RedCafe makes for good reading atm:

If Dybala fails and Bruno ends up at Spurs heads should fecking roll.

He'd fit perfectly at Spurs, let's hope the latest rumors are not true.

Please be bullshit!

Just completely staggers me how we have passed on an opportunity to sign him. What in the hell are we thinking turning down a player of that ability with no backup option

"Levy signs Fernandes for £40m while Woodward prepares £70m bid"

We are utter fools if we let him go to Spurs and become a superstar

I think it’s the sheer utter ineptitude of Woodward and co, to either sign Fernandes or an alternative that this latest news about Spurs brings home.
Utter shambles.

20 goals and 13 assists in 33 league games last season is certainly impressive, but does anyone know if he passes the eye test?
