How come?I know nothing about him but 33 goals/assist in 33 games doesn’t seem bad?

Just a hunch really. Most of my viewings have been Portugal or the EL. I don't trust the Portuguese League. If this guy is as good as the stats suggest the likes of Atletico or Napoli would be all over him too. Certainly not an educated opinion. That TIFO link has me feeling a bit better.

I fear you’ll be disappointed, Eriksen only has a year left, if he has rejected the contract then he is leaving in the next 7 days without a doubt.

I’m convinced GLC is happening regardless so Fernandes can only mean Eriksen is off, or it’s just a leak to pressure United on the Portuguese side

Been catching up with the CE story - but nothing has changed unless a club has come in for him which coincides with the Bruno story. It wont be Juve as im sure we would have asked for Dybala so its either RM or Manure (hope to God not Manure)

I dont think these leaks are a real thing but i can see why they happen if they did.

It will be an interesting seven days

People keep talking about a CE replacement. I always thought he was a CM. And we are stocked for the creative/transition role.

If someone could enlighten me it would be greatly appreciated
Lo Celso and Fernandes seem comfortable playing as both number 10s and as CMs. Both would be comfortable playing further upfield as Eriksen often does, but both are also more combative than him so could perhaps play in a CM 2 whereas Eriksen always seemed a bit too soft for that.

Signing both of them would give us serious depth and options in both midfield and attack, but it's tricky to see how we'd ever consistently get the two of them in the same team unless we dropped Alli or Winks, or went back to the cursed diamond.

Maybe something like this with Lo Celso given more of a free role on the right like Eriksen often used to have:

xxxxWinks - Ndombele
Lo Celso - Fernandes/Alli - Son
xxxxxxxxxKane

I think Lo Celso is the first option as his transfer would happen regardless of Eriksen leaving

Bruno Fernandes is the replacement for CE, a really good one IMO.

Yep, would agree with this. Have seen the obligatory clips of both, and caught bits of them playing in the recent Internationals, and both look decent. How decent i don't really know but the fact we are looking to purchase at the very top end of the market is pleasing in itself (given that we therefor could afford to buy umpteen cheaper players but have decided none are of the required standard).

I don't think it necessarily has to be the case that we are looking to bring both of them in as nailed-on first XI players. Poch has been after a player to compete and rotate with Eriksen for years (Barkely and Grealish), and we've been told over and over again that Lo Celso was not dependent on Eriksen being sold. It's clear that Poch wants two players in the squad for that role. If both were in blistering form at the same time, their positional versatility would probably mean we could find a place for both in the same XI if need be.

Let’s see if JJ mentions anything. I’m not getting my hopes up about anything until then! Been burnt before, only last week with Dybala!

Yeah I think this a better way to look at it. Ideally we want players hungry and competing for places and also want some serious depth. Both of them would still comfortably get 40+ appearances in a CL team regardless of whether they were starting every single game.

This is exactly as I see it (only I like presenting it the other way up...)

----------------------------- Kane

Son/Moura - Alli/Fernandes/Eriksen - Lo Celso/Lamela

--------------- Winks -------------- Ndombele

....where Lo Celso I expect to come in, and we either keep Eriksen, or sell him get Fernandes.

Optimistic perhaps but that's what (alongside getting Sess) I'd consider a great window to look like.

I happen to like the look of this guy. Looks very talented

Gards stated he rejected the new contract.

Having said that, given both Fernandes and Lo Celso both play in essentially the same positions, he could be our back up to Lo Celso.

Does seem strange that there were practically no links all summer though. The sudden deluge of press implies something has changed and given the limited time left in the window, Eriksen turning down a contract offer and us suddenly making a big move makes a lot of sense.

There were a lot of links earlier in the window but they kind of just fizzled out. I wouldn’t be suprised it Madrid have come in again for Eriksen after what has been a pretty shambolic pre season

So is it the ultimate move that we are stealing Fernandez under manure nose while they are busy with Dybala who we are totally not interested at all but just a smokescreen created all along to distract them? And when Dybala rejects them, they are left with Lukaku too late.

IF CE is off, Bruno is probably the best we could realistically hope for as a replacement. Dybala was always dreamland.

CE out - GLC, Bruno, NDombele in

I'd take it.

Interesting. Could it just be that we’ve given up on Lo Celso? Or maybe this is the last throw of the dice to get Betis to soften their negotiation stance?

I dunno. I won’t believe there is any truth in this deal until JJ confirms.

I went to a stadium tour today and saw a meeting going on in the H Club. Clearly that was related to Fernandes.
