This transfer flip-flopped so much in the summer and the only ones saying it’s close are Portuguese outlets, who seem as reliable as the Daily Star. Could be another twist but I very much doubt it.

Where has the money gone? The only thing that makes sense to me is Levy is battening down the financial hatches to balance the books for no CL next year. Or they’re gearing up to sell.

The issue as I see it is that Goncalo Lopes is the one tweeting it's basically done to Utd and he's very reliable. He was all over the story with us last summer when we were talking to Sporting for the same player and never once claimed it was done when it wasn't.

I fear we've lost out to Utd on this one. If it's down to Utd over-paying then so be it but if the deal is done for reasonable money then I'll be seriously unimpressed....again.

He wants us, Mourinho wants him but Levy doesn't want to spend money since we won't get top 4 anyway. January for Levy is about cheap bargains or players with expiring contracts. That's why we won't get Aarons either. Should be fun summer but same old boring January as always.

Our history goes back a little bit further than Poch!
That's irrelevant, I was replying to your suggestion that we never back our managers, which we did do in the summer. I am far from happy with our transfer dealings historically but we did back Poch, which several ITK's have confirmed.

Pure speculation... I'm of the thinking we were interested, and like most deals would've paid via structured instalments.

However, United have paid a very hefty fee up front blowing us out.

As I say, speculation, but to me, it not only explains why we've failed, maybe we had the money from the summer, but United's initial fee up front was the deal clincher.

I simply said it would be nice to get our managers their top tier targets for once. You disagreed. Cool. No need to discuss anymore.

Poch wanted Ndombele, Sess, Clarke and Lo Celso over Bruno?

Yep I remember, that was after not signing anyone single player for 18 months!! We gave Poch a few names and then fired him. It’s obviously not supportive!!
I think it would be nice if we could give our managers their top tier targets and then judge them. We haven’t ever done this. Was a throw away statement. Move on. Thank you.

Norwich aren't letting Aarons go mid relegation battle unless someone pays stupid money for him. He still has 4 and a half years on his contract.

Depends if they see him as vital to they way they play. They may want to take the money now and try to get someone else in to address another weakness that they wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford.

Pretty unlikely imo. He's played every minute of the league games apart from a two game spell out. Only other RB they have is Sam Byram as far as I'm aware.

There was that one day in the past summer's window where we had potential permutations of Bruno, GLC, Coutinho and Dybala all on our plate with Eriksen's future still in the balance

Fast forward 4 months plus and Coutinho has gone to Bayern, Dybala didn't happen coz of his image rights, Bruno's ship seemingly sailing away, the one that we eventually got (GLC) seemingly not up the manager's street and reports of Eriksen finally leaving, to Inter.

If only Carlsberg did transfer windows for Tottenham.

Cheer up, we may have a 21 year old championship player to look forward to in the summer.

18 months without signing because he rejected Tielemans etc because he want his main target - Ndombele

The funniest thing about that was when some fans on here claimed Coutinho wasn’t good enough for us.

Looks like Marcos Rojo is going to Sporting in the Fernandes deal. Sounds like it's just a matter of time before he signs for Utd.

I remember when we first got linked to guy I wasn't sure about him, hopefully he ends up being a flop! Sadly I think I was wrong and he'll be a big hit for them.
