Brentford are a bit dull ain’t they.

Really good 2nd half - should have got a 3rd/winning goal in the 25 mins after half time where we had them pinned back. Some very encouraging performances behind the front 3, but we need one of those front 3 to get some sharpness and confidence. I realised in the last 5 minutes that I was hoping that if we got one last chance it fell to Maddison or Bissouma or one of the full backs as I didn’t have much confidence in Richy or Kulu.

Tought ask next week - hope the crowd show some patience. In a few months time we ought to be better and will then be winning games like today.

Such a positive start, dominated the game and the huge positives was the performance as a whole being relentless.

The only worry for me is Richie: we need to get a striker in asap. Sanchez recovered well. Udogie was strong, Emerson decent, Maddison brilliant and Bissouma was immense.

Looking forward to seeing us at the Lane on Saturday in this revitalised no fear style of play.

A lot of promising football. My big concern is the GK. This guy looks like a joke. Eveything was laced with anxiety. Its like we've respawned a young Hugo on his worst days.
I had some concerns over him in pre-season but I don't think he did that badly? 6/10 for me.

Not a bad result and decent overall performance for Ange's first outing. Ten Hag's manu got absolutely smashed at the brentford leisure centre in his first game, not an easy place to go, particularly for a first game as manager.

I think that is nonsense. He kept us in the game with three great saves.

We were suffocating them for 15 minutes after the restart. A real shame we couldn't create anything during that period, but they were not getting out.

I guess if we are being realistic it's a really good result. Brentford get results against better teams than us and we restricted them to few chances. The players tired towards the end though, spaces opened up and the press fell apart. Probably should have dropped off a little and at least gone compact, but that is I guess something Ange will never have us do.

Bissouma is like a new player for us, he and Maddison were great in the middle. Very happy with the game really.

Son looked lost out there, Kulusevski was better but not by much.

Wingers definitely the weakness, Peresic over Son for me.

Bissouma, Udogie, VDV, Maddison and Davinson all good. Everyone else par.

Lots of positives against a very organised Brentford team.

2-2 away at Brentford is not that bad, but it annoys the fuck out of me that we are back to an era were that is seen as good enough :(
Loads struggled at Brentford last season. This really isn't as bad as you think it is and doesn't mean we're at a lower level.

We have a new defense, new system, new captain and vice captains. We only conceded to a soft penalty and a deflection. That is a very good point and the second half we had full control.

Oh and we weren't pushed back into our own box for 90 minutes. Good result and a performance that shows signs of improvement.

That’s a hell of a take! It was his first game and he had a few nervous moments. He certainly didn’t look like a joke.

All in all an encouraging start. Very impressive debuts from Udogie and Van de Ven, while Madisson was absolutely tremendous. It's hard not to salivate at the thought of a fully fit and firing Bentancur joining this midfield as Bissouma was great as well. Those three just complement each other so well.

Vicario a bit up and down but the upside is evident. There will be moments of pain during his growth but I think it will be worth it. That is what I was expecting of VDV but was very impressed with how calm and comfortable he was today. Still need depth at CB but much more comfortable with the idea of him being the first option at LCB (while trying not to get ahead of myself after only one game).

The concern as noted is the attack. I'm probably a much bigger Deki fan than most and love Son but they do not offer what this tactic requires. Alternatively, I have huge doubts on Richarlison but have no critiques of him today until the wings start creating. Okay, one critique. That last chance Madisson created has to be finished and that is my concern with him, just not clinical enough. After appointing Son captain and purchasing Deki this window, you aren't scrapping those two immediately so how is this fixed? Q tactical tweak to play to their strengths, hope they adapt in time, shift Son central? That's the big remaining question but overall a lot to like after Match 1.

Thought we did ok, but some poor perfomances in amongst the encouraging signs. Front three were completely ineffective.
Son probably the poorest contribution, followed by Kulu and then Skippy. Vicario looks like he will need time to settle before we can judge him fairly. Other than that I thought everyone else was encouraging. Special mention for Udogie who looked excellent. Thought VDV was very good on debut and I was impressed with how Royal contributed in his new role. Richy worked very hard but suffered as a result of the Son/Kulu lack of product.

I think there fans tried to make him nervous but a part from the rushing out with about ten minutes left I thought he did well and took ownership of everything he did.
I think it’s also the nature of playing with a sweeper keeper. The idea of it is precarious in nature. I didn’t think he did too much wrong until the couple of minutes near the end with the cross and pen shout.
