A lot of promising football. My big concern is the GK. This guy looks like a joke. Eveything was laced with anxiety. Its like we've respawned a young Hugo on his worst days.

Sone things to work on but overall I enjoyed that a lot….some very promising football and some great performances.

Some thoughts:

-The intent was good in the second half, just need more sharpness and quality.

-Van de Ven looks a clear upgrade on our existing LCB options which is great to see.

-Lots of teams will drop points at Brentford. This isn't a bad result, especially given it's the first match under Ange.

-In the transfer market i'd bring in Orban, a CB, and a quality winger.

All these Son up front comments are quite funny. If Ange thought that was where he was going to be most effective, don’t you think he’d have done it, either in pre-season or today?
You can be sure he has gone back and looked at Sons performances up front for us previously but has still decided against doing that.

Really - we gave up a dodgy Pen, and a deflected shot. For a much maligned D - that is progress.

Ange needs to figure out how to unlock Sonny - either at left wing or striker.

I think he might also have to reconsider using Lo Celso and Maddison. Thought Skipp was ineffective today, and Sarr, while active, was not as decisive as we need.

Lots of positives and lots of worries too.

Bissouma was fantastic, VDV & Udogie look like good signings too, very good debuts from both.

Maddison was great, we all knew that. Will be our key man.

Skipp in my opinion is useless, a far inferior player to PEH. He’s the one we should be looking to offload.

The keeper looks poor, unfortunately.

Front 3 were awful. Richarlison is useless and we all know it.

Kulu & Son poor 1-1 which is a problem.

Poor subs I thought. Lo Celso & Solomon should have been on after 60 mins.

Sanchez & Emerson were solid.

With the run up to the game being massively disrupted I’ll take that. Controlled the second half. Didn’t create enough but kept the ball well. Unlucky with the penalty and the second goal.

Bissoma was the stand out but special mention to Udogie on debut. Maddison was as good as I expected.

Keeper looks nervous and a little too eager. Hopefully will settle.

Cant wait for Bentancur to come in to our midfield

And not sure what to make of richarlisons performance. Would say a vlahovic be better?
No…Richy worked really hard didn’t get a lot of the ball. If anything Sonny and kulu should get more stick

Bissouma and Maddison brilliant. With Bentancur in there too midfield is sorted.
On paper it looks fantastic. I don't like that Skipp/Sarr are basically right backs and decoy runners at the moment when we have the ball, and I hope Bentancur won't be asked to do the same because it would be a waste of his talents.

It's his first game in English football, and it's at the very top end. He's going to need some time, fuck me.

A lot of positives to take from that. Some good performances and more to come from some areas/players.

I wouldn't expect Brentford won't drop too many points at home and be in the middle of the table again so it's not a bad result.

Very compact at the back keeping it tight and tough to break down.

Bissouma, VdV, Udogi, Maddison looking good. Royal had a good game too.

Expect more to come from the front 3 as they find the combinations and movement.

Surprised not to see Lo Celso or Soloman at all

When Romero came off, it didn't help the composure of the team. Son Kulu and Son need to improve or we are going to struggle to get the required goals.

I’m really happy with that when you take everything in context. Some real stand outs from the likes of Biss, Udogie and Maddison. Emerson with a really strong game and VdV looks built for the prem. Great showing after being here for only a week. The front 3 needs tinkering and we’ll need patience with Vicario but really promising overall imo.

dunno why we bought kulusevski, he got found out last season, son is about as much captain material as lloris, richarlison.. ive said from the start bad buy, just seems to have no footballing brain whatsoever.

Everyone else bar the keeper were decent, although sanchez is a mistake waiting to happen.

Decent start.
It's gonna take some time, but some real positives. Udogie and Maddison were very good, and Bissouma looked superb. More like the player we bought from Brighton.
Vicario looked a little skittish, but hopefully he'll settle.
