Do you truly believe this? That the manager won't change things unless the fans boo? I think you might be putting far too much value on terrace chants right there.

Contrary to popular opinion football managers do generally know what they're doing and can recognise the flaws in a performance and correct them how they see fit. They don't just wait until fans boo then change things. It's not about singing when we are shit. It's about trying to boost the confidence of the players to try and help boost their performance. Booing will achieve nothing in terms of on the pitch performance.

If your boss shouts at you when you make the smallest error at work you won't want to work there. If your boss praises you when you do well and encourages you to do better then your work performance will improve. It's pretty simple psychology and it's a wonder that anybody thinks the opposite way.

My preference is smoke signal, the perfect medium through which to convey ones total dissatisfaction.

Follow link for visual representation of suggested protest:

Hell while we're at it we could even burn down part of the stadium to create said smoke signals, all the while not forgetting that it's all okay because 'we paid our monies'.

Boooooooooooooo!

I'll put my hand up and be honest. I booed constantly at half time. From the minute the players left the pitch until a good 5 minutes into the second half.

I don't think my actions influenced AVB's changes but as soon as my live stream froze I was furious and couldn't contain myself. Took me bloody ages to find another one that worked.

If you attempt something and you fail, what's more likely to have a positive effect on your next attempt:

1 positive encouragement?
2 someone telling you how fucking useless you are?

If your answer is 1 then ,next time you post ,try to pay a bit more attention to the keys you are pressing mate, and when youve finished, give it a quick read through to check if there are any errors before you click "post reply".Apart from that good effort.

If your answer is 2 then, booooooooooooooooo, youre fucking useless at typing.boooooooooooooo

Makes me laugh that adults actually show their disapproval by booing. I mean its a childish act, its best known for pantomines. Not clapping or making any noise is surely a more adult reaction. Or in fact for those that like to sing, sing a disapproving song, something, with meloncholy like the muse or such like!

Sorry, I forgot football was a nice smiley game with flowerbeds at the side of the pitch where everyone has a hug and a pot of tea after the match.

Its no coincidence that everytime we've booed at home this season we've then gone on to score.

No boos at Lazio = no goals.

I'm sensing sarcasm? Norwich at Home is the obvious anomaly. Perhaps we shouldn't boo every other Home game to eliminate these misleading irregularities. I think we might be on to a winner.

Yes it is. It really, really, really is.

Pointing out the Lazio game where we put it in the net 3 times proves the lunacy of your point. Unless you are being sarcastic of course.

Heard plenty of booing at half time on the telly against Norwich.

Unless of course the state dubbed it - perfectly possible.

The PA announcement blasted out loud music to cover most of it up, the odd nob head but nothing like the other games.

I removed the dumb rating, as it was an accident. However, we have both been posting long enough to know you are on one of your wind ups

I rated this as 'funny' because it has to be a joke.

The alternative is that you think that our manager is incapable of both analysing a game and any other form of rational thought; and that he will only make changes when prompted by a buch of retards.

Either way the post is fucking hilarious.

And that is precisely where those who advocate or condone booing make their mistake - believing that "indicating their displeasure" is more important than backing their team. The other mistake is believing that "indicating their displeasure" will somehow make the players play better.

It has been shown in countless psychological studies that even if there is an upturn in performance from that kind of negative behavioural stimulus (which only happens very occasionally), it will be short term. However, there is always a long-term downturn in "performance"

Cheers mate. I am glad that someone has put it in a way that is irrefutable and that has been backed up by referances, that booing your team is for donuts (I wanted to put a much more expletive filled discription of said people here but it would have taken too long).

I just wonder if any of the "fans", who have been booing are readers of this forum and if they are, have they realised how detrimental their actions are and decided that they wont be booing anymore?
I would like this issue to be addressed if at all possible. I am sure that the various fans groups could do something about making The Lane a more intimidating place for the opposition to come to and also to put a stop this booing that is going on.

Is there a way of getting somethnig like ths going? I hesitate to say get the club itself to do something about it as that would be wrong. It should be something that is self-policed by supporters. Something that we, as fans, have done off our own backs.

Any ideas on the matter please throw them out there as I think that stadium atmosphere is the only way we as fans can contribute to our teams success and we should do everthing that we can to make it the best place to play for our players and a nightmare for the opposition.
