Not just you smc. This place has gotten quite angry the last few years. Everyone seems to want to rant and take it out on other posters. I do it myself sometimes.

Just think we should take a step back and chill. We will buy players or we wont. We will do well this season or we wont. No need to fight each other about it. We are all trying to do the best for spurs especially levy. It can be frustrating but we are trying to build a stadium. We will probably have to be patient for the next couple of years.

voice of reason...you feeling OK Baz :D

Christ I hope not.

You hope we don't use an academy product rather than a Rasiak level signing who would probably offer just as little if not less and then become an expensive wage burden that we struggle to shift every window as he trains with the reserves?

Strange...

just a few ours left until transfer deadline. Seems very quiet around spurs.

They better bring in a striker and dm.

I hope for neither. I don't want to go in to a season with Kane as our only experienced striker. I hope we buy a proper solution to our back up needs

Id seen Lamella, Soldado about 20 times, Paulinho, Lesley Ferdinand, Sergei Rebrov, David Bentley, how many can I fit on one post?

Yep..yep..

Here's a nice little 11 for you. Total cost about 75 million before a wage has been sniffed. Many were 3-5 million, when that was a LOT of money.

7 of them were "Proven" at PL, or CL level, who we were probably happy about before they kicked a ball for us.

2 were young "talent"

2 were signed off the back of a world cup. The biggest farce of a talent gauge in world football, post bosman rule.

Gomes,

Scales, Richards, Chiriches, Thatcher,

Dumitrescu, Dozzell, Zokora Reid,

Postiga, Keane pt 2,

I'm just scratching the surface of the expensive players, as they all were at the time.

The analogy I draw for our current situation is like waiting for a slow dance to come on at the local disco. You make your move on the girl you've had your eye on all night, only for a more assertive lad steps in a beats you to her and you're then left looking frantically for the next best, who is also being lead on to the dance floor. In desperation you see a rather unattractive but available girl and you reluctantly take her to the dance floor, only to find out she's got a wooden leg and an artificial hip..

But you take her home anyway and turn out the lights?

That's not really the analogy to our current situation re: Berahino/Pato etc so far though is it? Rather than being beaten by a more assertive lad, it's more a case of...

You make your move on the girl you've had your eye on all night, only for her current husband/boyfriend to hand you off and tell you that he used to be in the marines and if you bother her again he'll knock your front teeth out. You're then left looking frantically for the next best, only to find out that you can't talk to her as she doesn't speak English and she's got two ex husbands in Brazil who are arguing over how much of the divorce settlements they're entitled to. In desperation you see a rather unattractive but available girl and you reluctantly take her onto the dance floor, only for your mate Mauricio to come over and go Danny, what are you doing, I'd rather go home single and lonely and watch Homeland all night than pull that hideous creature, let's go home!

It's shaping up to be a window that flattered to deceive

Some decent/steady work done early doors to strength the back line and our depth in that area, some decent work clearing much of the deadwood

Though we then left much of our most important business to the last week and the last day - lessons learnt? maybe not it seems

I hope Levy and co. can pull it out the bag - but I suspect we're going to be left 2-3 players short of what we really needed (and stuck with 2-3 pieces of deadwood) as a result of not just getting what we needed done a few weeks earlier (ideally I'd prefer we stop fucking around and aim to sort everything before the season starts)

What's most frustrating is you look around the league and see numerous transfers that you feel we could/should have made

Anyway - it's not as bad as some are making out, we've done our share of decent work that will hopefully pay off and even though I feel we're gonna end up short or making a desperation move or two to fill the holes inadequately again we can hold hope that any failings in the transfer market will give an opportunity to a youngster or two who can take it (i.e fail to get a DM and Dier steps up and makes it his own, like Harry did last year when we failed to bring in a striker)

Does anyone think we will bounce straight back up from the Championship? because that's where were heading if were not careful. i cant think of one player other than Kane who has the fight/desire in him that we will need if things turn ugly. We need to be very very careful and if anyone thinks we'll finish above 8th i'll have a nice bet with you.

Famous last words but we are way too good to go down! I do think we're in real danger of dropping out of the top six this season though. I still think we'll get a top half of the table finish because when you look at the competition it's not exactly awe inspiring at the moment.

What really frustrates me is that so many teams are like us at the moment and we have utterly failed to capitalise.

If we can avoid injuries, think we'll be just fine. Glad this transfer shit is over.

Gotta love chaps like you who turn up twice a year with stuff like this...
