I for one hope the 1st call Arry make's once the transfer window opens is to mark hughes offering bentley in exchange for young michale johnson who can play defensive mid & a bit of cash or tal ben haim thrown in.

when your struggling as a player to integrate into the team & justifying your starting place the last thing needed on the pitch is selfishness and that has been bentley all over putting himself 1st.

Whilst im not trying to defend bentleys performances in anyway shape or form, he was deprived of a full preseason due to the fact blackburn knew he was off and because he was injured too.
Now if we think back to last season lennon didnt have a preseason and was equally ineffective so i think he needs more time, but definitely needs to be dropped for the time-being.

seriously dont understand why he doesnt drop bentley, tell him to shut his marf, and give him week solid/2 weeks fitness work to prove himself.

but aside from fitness, wheres the trademark freekicks!!??? not even ONE this season!

As yet Bentley has not played on the right in a 442. When he does we will see what he can do (although I have been impressed with his workrate). I am sadly not surprised to see some of our fans jump straight onto his back, after a lifetime of supporting the club I have finally realised that it is the gobby fans that are in fact holding us back.

Les Ferdinand almost said the same thing on TV the othher week when he said that he a a season ticket holder but can't use his seat as the fans around him get on his tits. (my words not his).

When he scored a hatrick against Man Utd wasnt he playing in the centre? Perhaps he could be given another chance in that position.

Bentley doesn't get credit for his workrate because he looks so slow - he does put himself about a lot, but often arrives slightly too late to be effective. I don't think that four months into the season his current form can be excused by a lack of preseason though.

He is playing out of position and I'm guessing that he's always in the team because he's always a threat from dead balls - he hasn't been too deadly yet, but we all know that he can be, so it's only a matter of time I think.

Personally, I think he's been very disappointing this season and would prefer him to either play on the right (with Lenny switching to the left, where he has been effective in the past) or drop out of the side in favour of left-footers like Bale or O'Hara.

Bentley has been utter crap in a Spurs shirt so far. To me he looks abit top heavy and not quite Sharp enough in game play... either his doing to much upper weights in the gym or eating to many pies.

Michael Johnson is a good footballer but I doubt what we need to see instant improvement is a player who has been kept out all season by injuries.

Why is everyone on Bentleys back.... It isnt his fault that our manager doesnt want to play him in his most natural position.

He is a far superior player to lennon on the right and the reason Bentley performed for hughes was because he showed faith in him week in week out and played him in his prefferred position on the right..

Madness that you all just chat crap about him

i'm beginning to wonder whether he did perform for hughes. He is a typical match of the day player

This is one of the reasons I'm happy with Redknapp as our manager. He has always known how to get the best out of players not just through motivation but through playing them to their strengths.

I hate making excuses for players but I'm sure having a striker to aim his crosses would be a good start in getting better performances out of Bentley. I think it's very lazy to write players off as crap especially when they've proven in the past to have ability. I definitely don't want to see us selling a player after only 6 months.

Bentley retains his place because we don't have better options.

I won't complain about his ability. We paid over the odds for his skill to deliver a long ball and crack one in from distance - the 'luxury' attributes.

However we are in such a state where we need more than luxury stuff from our flank players as we no longer have Berba up front. We need ball winners, goal scorers, willing runners. Bentley's not done enough in these areas and that is the reason for his average performances. He is a luxury player for us now.

If he adjusts his mindset he will come good.

It troubles me greatly how some Spurs fans always have to get on a player's back.

Agreed he's not put in the stellar perfromances that his price tag demands. But he's clearly quality and he has proven himself in the Prem. As stated above, he's being played out of position, didn't get a pre-season (neither being his fault) and consequently has probably lost some confidence too.

Give the guy a break.

i dont think thats gonna happen, i do rate bentley alot, and i think so does harry, he seems to be in a real mess right now but im still hoping he comes good.

we need to solve our left side problem, when done bentley and lennon will compete for the right side and both do their job. so i hope he stays for some season at spurs!

He was lucky he never heard the fans when he was playing for us then, because he did fuck all apart from warm the treatment table.
