Rumors coming out thats what's happening, handed in a transfer request and the bid has been accepted.

Sunderland striker Darren Bent has handed in a transfer request after Aston Villa made an £18million move for the England international.

Bent has been a regular scorer for the Black Cats since joining from Tottenham 18 months ago, but he has now asked to quit the North East club.

Villa have launched a big-money bid for the 26-year-old as manager Gerard Houllier tries to assemble a squad capable of staying in the Premier League.

Bent wants out

Darren Bent has put in a transfer request from Sunderland, £18 million? Would you want him back at the lane?

Why on earth would he leave an exciting club chasing Europe for a struggling club battling relegation?

He'd never come back after the Sandra comment. Plus with Sandro in the squad he might end up getting a complex everytime he sees the back of Sandro's shirt.

Big mistake Sunderland. Bent is better than Gyan and WelbeckN at the moment. Similar story to his Spurs career though I suppose. £18m though?! Fuck me, I thought we got screwed.

Good striker, but I don't think he suits our style of play. Didn't work first time, no reason to think it would work this time.

Hopefully we have a selling on % clause when we sold him. He will do well at Villa, they need goals fast. If we is worth £18m + then Lakuka doesnt look too bad for €25m

I would take him back, on the cheap as a stop gap, if we couldn't get our preffered targets.

When I say on the cheap, I mean for less than we sold him which isn't going to be possible - not a chance, so a non starter for me.

Is this a wind up though,....totally out of the blue if its for real!

Talksport reporting thats its £18-19m rising to £24m in add-ons! We better have some sell on clauses....

I wouldn't really want him back, unless it was a complete bargain which it wouldn't be!

Villa 18 million agreed, rising to 24 million. Old Lerner has got the cheque book out and doesn't fancy a relegation battle - MON must be wondering why he didn't splash the cash over the summer.

The real surpise is Bent, going from a very decent looking Sunderland team to a struggling side who are in a real relegation battle.

Dont know about wages though...always a factor.

I think he'll do well at Villa though. Alrbrington, Young and Downing are going to given him a lot of service.

Haha like he'd ever come back to work under Harry. As if Harry's comments weren't bad enough, he never exactly built up a relationship with us lot either.

This seems like it's Bent's decision though, he's requested the transfer.

Don't think Sunderland want to let him go, but £18m rising to £24m? Don't see how they can turn that down.

Bent to Villa
Keane to Sunderland.

If they want to splurge that money on any one of Crouch, Keane or Pav I'd be very happy. Hell, if they wanted to spend the full £18m on two of them it would be brilliant business for us!
