Benjani Deal Too Late!

Ha ha, what a fuck up.

Pompey waited until the last minute to sign Defoe, as they only wanted him if they lost Benjani to Man City.

Benjani was about to sign, so Pompey complete the Defoe deal. Now it turns out Benjani was just too late and missed the deadline, so Pompey are stuck with both of them and no money!

Ha ha, you've got to love Bent Arry. Tit.

Equally amusing, City's 'strike force' now consists of just Vassell and Mpenza, Dickov, the crocked Bojnov, and two teenagers.

While Pompey will have Defoe, Kanu, Utaka, Benjani and Baros.

Although apparently now the FA are examining the paperwork again to see if Benjani was done on time. I actually hope it was, as I like Man City more than Pompey.

SSN have said it still might be on. They are looking to see if paperwork was handed in before the deadline

Man City have issued a statement saying:

Manchester City have confirmed that the proposed transfer of Portsmouth striker Benjani to the Blues was unsuccessful.

City spokesman Paul Tyrrell said, "Due to the late arrival of the player in Manchester we were unable to complete the transfer."

Well, that'll go down well with the Pompey fans. I'm sure they'll get right behind him now. :|

Nugent continues to be a bench warmer & Baros joins him.

Didn't someone say we should've bought Nugent in the summer? the guy is out of his depth.

Yes. Some wag on the Guardian last day watch suggested 'arry would be strengthening the Pompey squad by offloading him.

Sven very nearly fooked Defoe over one more time. If 'Arry hadn't jumped the gun and signed Defoe with the non-existent Benjani money, Jermain would have had to stay at Spurs. It was like a house sale chain that collapsed at the last moment, but 'Arry still went ahead and bought his new mansion.

I bet Levy is very happy to get some cash for his depreciating asset, because we have to assume Defoe had still not signed a new contract at Spurs. Given this, and given how desperate 'Arry has been to sign Jermain for quite some time now, I do wonder whether it was pure cock up. Amusing as that scenario is...

What was the balance though? How much of the Benjani money were they relying on? If it was only a couple of million or less then they can probably recoup that in the Summer window and, if they do use that immensely large strike force squadron to it's full potential then that's not too much to make up in the whole scheme of things.

If they were relying on ALL of the Benjani money then that's them pretty f*cked, unless Milan fancies chucking more cash at the club in the short term, surely?

Didn't Mandaric leave the club a while back and take over Leicester?

It's a lot of players to keep happy though - remember that? Particularly as one of them knows he was supposed to have been sold, one of them knows he's unrated and another has just come from fighting three forwards for two places to fighting four.

I saw an article this week that The Gay Damek is looking to sell up.

If that happens, they could be in a sticky situation.

Does Mandaric have an itchy arse or something?? He doesn't seem to be able to sit down anywhere for more than ten minutes

They should have sold Benjani the night before when he was actually playing in Manchester!
