Pisses me off, that yet again City just pick up the best young(ish) talent in the world, all the time. Gvaridol by the looks of it, will be amongst the best in Europe. For many years.

Yeah, it helps us indirectly, than a player like Laporte may be surplus to requirements. But will he choose us? If he wants to stay in the PL, I can see we may be his best option. But if Bayern, PSG, Napoli, Real come-a-calling, hard to see him preferring us over them. Especially if Napoli unload Kim. They’ll have the funds to replace him, and extra money to maybe beef up the salary of some of their coveted players.

Outside of Laporte… who else is there, that is a sure thing, and we would be open to spending 40-50m on?

Also… why aren’t we pursuing the like of Skriniar? He’s a free agent. Not resigning with Inter.

Anyways, I hope we aren’t putting all our eggs into this basket.

Skriniar has a pre-agreement with PSG.

Bayern are getting Kim, Real have said they arent signing anymore players this window, Barca dont have the funds and are getting Inigo Martinez, Juve want Pau Torres, Napoli are an option I guess. Most top teams or ones that can drop £40mill on a player are covered at CB atm.

Atletico seems like a natural fit

I suppose most of the big boys probably aren't looking to sign 29 year old CBs and, while Laporte is good, he's not exactly someone all the super clubs will be fighting to offer a big contract to given his age. They're probably looking to get younger players like Kim, Gvardiol, etc.

More I think about it the more it makes sense that he could end up here, although would still be kinda surprised if there isn't a single CL club pushing to sign him over us.

I was aware of the pre agreement. Just haven’t heard much since. Suppose the window doesn’t technically open until July?

Sadly after years of pumping money into the club they now run like a legitimate business.

You can’t be on about Man City been run like a legitimate business?

110+ premier league rule breaches? Several dodgy/inflated sponsorship deals from businesses directly owned by their owners?
Richest club in the world? I’m not sure how that’s even remotely possible with their stadium capacity or worldwide fan base/exposure?

It was tongue in cheek as that's what their fans say now their money spent isn't £150-200m more than what they get from sales.

They're rotten as fuck, just like Chelsea, but I think there's an element of truth to it.

Chelsea and Man City both poured so much dirty money into their respective clubs via dubious methods that they reached a stratospheric point at which they were able to start running more legitimately and making serious money or at the very least self-sustaining through player sales rather than simply pumping oil/blood money into the club year after year.

Man City made a 10m profit in the transfer market last summer and only spent 40m net the season before, during which time they bought Erling Haaland and Jack Grealish for a combined total of £150m quid. Also, since players now want to go there to win trophies they can often scoop up the best young talents and free transfers without as much necessary outlay. Chelsea did similarly under Abramovic when they were making huge profits on the likes of Hazard, while also selling tons of youth products for decent money.

It's a bit like when a criminal launders money in legitimate businesses and eventually reaches a point where they don't need to do crime anymore. City are growing as an entity and over time they will be less and less reliant on the dirty methods you're talking about.

Will be good if not least for a year or two as he know the kind of high line we'll be playing under Ange.

Romano saying we are looking to Tapsoba as an option in defence…would be such a great option and PERFECT for Ange's style of football…

If Laporte is not an option this guy should be Number 1 target…not left footed but amazing on the ball and comfortable in possession. 6ft 4 with bags of pace, love the look of him!

I can’t get on board with Laporte
Seeing Harry absolutely own him a few seasons back out me off him, he seemed weak.
Prob harsh judging any cb vs Harry tbf.

Reckon we'd be better off with Tapsoba. Yes, Laporte has played the role for Pep already, but he's approaching his 30s,
and let's face it we'll probably not do it as well as City, we're likely to be punished more often for standing high with the ball.
Could see the need for faster defenders running up counters.

I can’t see this one happening unfortunately ( although I hope it does ). He’ll surely have better offers from top Italian or Spanish teams.

But who needs a LCB? Where would he go and start? Italy clubs are broke, real Barca have better lcbs, Athletico are broke.

These big teams always find a way to buy players with… ahem creative accounting.
