Just how much money would it take to prise Martinez away from Everton I wonder...?
I'd be astonished if it were even considered. Not by Levy, who seems to pick managers via some sort of lucky dip system, but by Martinez, who seems to have more than a bit of loyalty/dignity or whatever you want to call it.

No I pity you because equally you have the same set of glasses on that always makes some spurs fans think our own players are not as good as other teams. There is a few people here, who no matter what, will never except the fact just because it hasn't clicked for some of the players we bought in straight away that they are instantly shit or not good enough. But I have been here for a while I remember the stick Bale, Modric, Carrick, Kaboul, Berbatov etc got while it took them time to settle. I don't need to see world beaters to be able spot talent that hasn't been realised. And I never once mentioned 'world beaters' I said they were all very good players and that this is an excellent squad. This is Tottenham we don't buy world beaters we buy talent. You know the same talent that Bale, Berba, Modric had that we nurtured into great players. What's not to say that all the players I have mentioned may not still make into the next bracket.

Backtracking a bit aren't you? A moment ago we had a great squad ready for whenever the new manager comes in. Now it's we have a squad that has players that have the potential to be very good.

Personally I think the second point is right. Some of the players do have the potential to be very good. But they're not at the moment and potential doesn't mean squat when you're playing against teams with real world class players like Liverpool and Man City.

daily fail breaking news that avb survives meeting with levy and baldini
FFS... To be honest, I think it would be better if he went now. I think it has reached a point of no return.

I so wanted AVB to be a success and take us places and in the end, he got scared and bottled it against his own footballing philosphies.

You should have gone 4-3-3 and very attacking minded, that is the type of player we got in, not crab football.

You can want whichever manager you want next, you all know in 2 to 3 seasons time, we'll be exactly the same place we are at now.

Well hopefully if one can do a decent job like redknapp but not be a totally narcissistic self serving twat then we wouldn't have to.

It's not that much to ask really.

Liverpool ? Baring Suarez hardly world beaters. How they doing in cups. We are a more valuable squad, just needs 'managing' - see what I done there.

Agreed. The dreaded vote of confidence. Like a the kiss of death from a Mafiosi.

Such a crucial call for DL and the Board now. Both choices have obvious downsides and carry their own risks. Do we soldier on (no pun intended) with him and hope he can turn things around still? Liverpool are pretty good after all and they've smashed several sides already. Or do we try to bring someone else in knowing there aren't a great deal of good choices. Will they be able to do any better?

I guess one important factor is whether the lads are still behind him or not. I know there was a post recently suggesting the team is very much behind him but will they be after tonight? No one likes to get humiliated on their own turf, especially the players.

It's practically a case of damage limitation now, in my humble opinion.

Anyone still backing AVB clearly knows nothing about football he has destroyed the most attacking attractive spurs team to watch in years, and turned us into mid table minnows!!!!
We're 8 points of the top. Arsenal were more than 8 points of top 4 at this stage for last few seasons and have done alright.

FFS relax the kaks.

Not back tracking at all. We have a very good squad. You might not think so I do. Whats your point? You don't like the players we bought? You would have bought different ones?

And really Liverpool have more than ONE real world class player? If you think that then the point I make stands you have those glasses on which make you think all our players are shit and everyone else are better. Name one other world class player Pool have.

again people its not the drubbing against teams its the manner of them and the manner of the wins regardless!! Even we struggled against anzhi at times defending how are we gonna get to champs league like that today?
Completely agree. Those who keep saying the squad is brilliant MIGHT be right, but how can they claim to have ANY evidence to say that with such certainty? None of the signings have been consistent and we already knew players like Dawson, Sigurdsson, Defoe, Naughton were bang average.
We're hardly in a position to be signing world beaters. We are not going to attract top players without CL football season in, season out.
