For the latter two that might be true, but regardless, we should be doing everything we can to stop Lloris going rather than looking at it as a sell-for-big-money-and-replace scenario

Judging by the shite we signed last summer, the 'we'll buy several players for £10-15m' is more a case of Levy doing a Cameron, tell the fans one thing, do the opposite. The only way we're going to sign 1 or 2 upgrades is if we sell one of our prized assets. The difference with goalkeepers is there's several quality and affordable keepers out there who we could sign. Begovic, Cech, Krul in the premier league alone.

Ps, I don't want us to sell Lloris but if a bid comes in around £30m, we should snap their hands off. Plus the extra profit will come in handy with balancing the books when we're forced to offload the trash (Soldado, Paulinho etc) for a hefty loss.

Levy would want a record amount for a GK. Luckily, I don't think any team will go for Lloris.

He's a brilliant keeper and with the rumoured price of De Gea being circa £50m, there's no reason other than the age cap that Hugo's fee shouldn't be too far of that. Realistically who needs a new keeper? PSG keep getting linked but there's nothing wrong with their keeper. The only other teams are Juve whom I doubt would spend £30m plus on a keeper despite doing so for Buffon many moons ago, and the other being Real, who seem undecided between the decent enough Navas and the rapidly declining Casillas.

I certainly wouldn't. Hugo is probably in the top 3 keepers in the world and we'd need to buy a new keeper. Say Begovic would cost £10m (?) that would effectively leave us with £20m which is less than half of what I'd want for Lloris, it's important that we don't underestimate how important he is.

Also the fact that you say it's to balance the books is quite sad. Balancing the books is handy but I'd rather make a loss if it means we improve the quality of the squad!

Hugo's in the best 3 keepers in the league. Not in the world as much as we love him

Would be a good buy if Lloris ended up leaving. Would love him to stay obviously, but he's in his prime and one of the best keepers in the world. Deserves to be playing at the very highest level.

Not a dig, but who's better? Genuine question because I can only think of De Gea (who I think's on par with Lloris) and Neuer. For me Courtois isn't as good as people say he is at the minute although I'm sure he'll grow up to be amazing

I see I'm not the only one jittery with anticipation to see how close we get to signing Depay this summer . Surely only to miss out by £.3m

I think we can all agree that when it comes to scoring goals, Lloris just doesn't offer anything. And for that reason, Lloris < Begovic.

De Gea has been good no doubt, but its ridiculous the gulf between the level of praise he's received compared to Hugo.

Its actually laughable but entirely predictable because he plays for United.

Truth is, with our recent defensive record, it really doesn't matter whether our goalie is world class, solid PL class or pure crap. Lloris did save some points for us lat Dec/early Jan, but before and after that, he wasn't able to simply because our defending was beyond help from anyone, let alone a mortal goalie.
