I'll be on a flight to Spain for my hols while this game is taking place, hoping for good news when we land, I'd be happy with a well earned draw.

Typical of Poch teams who have a hangover from pre season we’ve looked leggy and lethargic. We’ll need to start faster then we have and take the game to them. Big challenge for Poch in how he sets us up. The MF pairing is critical. I am going score draw.

Had a mental dream that we went 5-1 up after 30 mins but for some reason I had to leave.

Fast forward to full time and we'd lost 6-9 ...........after extra time.

I don't even know what to make of that.
69, you say?

I’d say it’s fairly obvious what to make of it, you smutmonger

Wow! 30% of voters are optimistically deluded in thinking we'll win this. I admire it though.

Because of your post we have now gone down to 20%

If and WHEN we win... i will find you and the other 80% - WAR!!!

In the early 00s and late 90s we had bad teams but the one thing you could guarantee against Arsenal was that we were always fired up. Yes michael brown was terrible but he was happy to put a challenge in. Nowadays it seems that we get very very nervous against arsenal as we do every big game. We just never seem to be up for it like they are. Our record against them has been very poor recently. Not won in the league in a while and we need to rectify that.

Emery looked to expose our RB last season and he will do it again. Luckily their defence is also shit.

Ha ha this is going to mess up all his planning - we haven't got one today!

This is going to be a long, long day.

Got up at 5.07 because my six year old hates the idea of me living into old age. Came downstairs to find it had poured down last night and the washing was still on the line. My wife told me to bring it in yesterday evening. “Fuck off,” said I, “it’s not going to rain tonight,” as I quaffed another glass of Port. “Fine,” she replied, “but you’re not watching the game tomorrow if you mess this up. It’s happened too many times and you’ve got to learn.”

So basically I’m in the shit. Not right now, my wife is sleeping and has no idea about the drenched washing. But she will have soon. The way I see it, I have three options:

Option 1- disappear for the day but miss the game on the telly. Not great

Option 2- insist on keeping the curtains shut for the day so my wife doesn’t notice the wet washing and pray it dries before she gets testy about the lack of daylight in the house. Probably a 50:50 chance of getting away with it and watching the game

Option 3- lace the missus’ cup of tea with a couple of slugs of amitriptyline. She’ll not notice a single thing for the whole day and I definitely get to watch the game. It’s probably illegal though

I totally totally hate this game. Seriously thinking about walking the dog for 2 hours with no phone. Can't bear it, hate it, got a headache thinking about it.

There are no words in the English language that could adequately describe how much I loathe that club......everything about them, their name, that stupid revolting pissy kit of theirs, their fans, their players......literally everything. Anyone who doesn't feel the same should be medicated.

I had a good feeling about this last night. Now I am hungover to fuck and dreading it. I better start drinking again.

Should not put the pressure on to rectify it as we know how well the team respond under pressure or expectancy.

Copy-paste the same post I make every year about this being my most hated fixture of the season and how I feel sick to the stomach. Not helped this year by my feeling that we're likely to lose the match. Doubly not helped by having the international break to stew on a defeat (against the club that I most hate us being defeated by), if that's the way it goes.

Probably safer for me to avoid watching the match today and then checking the score around 7pm: massive bonus and upswing in mood if we've got something out of the game, and damage-limitation as far as possible for the foul mood I'll be in if it goes the wrong way.

Good luck to you brave souls who have the minerals to watch this one as it happens: I hope you're all celebrating like crazy come the final whistle and that I have a very welcome surprise a little later when I learn the score.

Agree with lots of this, suspect many of us do.

Whatever the outcome, today is not a good day to give up any vices

From memory I think we tend to lose just before the international break would be a welcome change not to.
