What is that goal kick tactic all about? Both centre backs in the 6 yard box with Lloris!? I can’t see what that adds at all especially knot of the time is goes straight back to Lloris who lumps it forward. Bizarre tactic to persist with. Very high risk, very low reward.
It's like were so busy thinking about what we CAN do with the new rule, but no one stopped to ask if we SHOULD do it...

I thought Sanchez did really well today, occasionally out of position but that is because he is a center back.
I thought he did as well as could be expected if not better - his pace against PEA was definitely useful. He's not a RB but it looks like we can't play Aurier so this was clearly thought to be the least bad option.

As for the general thread I'm a bit surprised at the negativity. The last few games it has seemed that Arsenal wanted it more than us and that wasn't case today - we fought and scrapped and gave our all. The ref wasn't great and so I think whilst we picked up quite a few yellow our players at least had the nouse not to turn them into reds - which I suspect we would have done in years past!

There is a total lack of willingness to give the opposition any credit at all (I don't just mean in this thread). Arsenal clearly have their faults but with a somewhat makeshift team (no proper RB, no proper DM) I thought we did OK - we rode our luck occasionally but we could also have had a bit more go our way and had a win. All in all, it was a proper derby game. For years we've been complaining about the soft centre and yet when we fight and battle and get the draw it's still not good enough.

Arsenal will be in the mix for top 4 with us, Chelsea, ManU (and it would appear Liverpool and City taking the top two slots) so treating today's result like it's a complete disaster and we should be killing off some much much lesser team is a bit arrogant?

Anyway hopefully we get a few players back (Ndombele, Dier, KWP) and come back stronger and looking more like the old Poch Spurs.

COYS!

Reckon you've missed something . Sissoko isn't playing as an attacker .

The reason he is often in shooting positions , in space... is simply because he has bust a gut to get to that position .
Contrasting somewhat with our other forwards .

That’s exactly my point. He’s not an attacker, but is getting into attacking positions frequently, where his end product is woeful and is therefore potentially taking a chance away from someone else who would be better suited for it.

It’s a bit like defenders who shoot from thirty yards when a ball bounces out from a corner, rather than shifting it to a more naturally creative player.

Sissoko is not a great player but for at least a year he has moved the ball forward and better than most of our stars. He has a terrible time when he gets to his destination and should hop off one stop before.

I know people try to defend Sissoko’s end product by saying that he’s not in the team for his attacking prowess and that it’s his athletic attributes and drive with the ball that helps the team. Whilst that’s true to some degree, if he is continually getting in advanced positions only to blast the ball into row Z, he’s wasting attacking opportunities that would be better suited for other players.
100% It's so poor, its hard to believe he hasn't either been taught or he hasn't learnt yet. It is extremely embarrassing to witness... just compose yourself, man, and relax. You're a professional footballer. We are not expecting you to score every opportunity but there are times where its harder to miss than score. Sissoko tries to blast every ball as hard as possible. The more power you try and put in your shot, the more accuracy you surrender, surely thats the case with him? One of the most frustrating things about him, drives me mad.

Eriksen is so great he cant connect with a corner. I've heard that he intentionally hits it to around where the first man is and where no Tottenham player is so why doesnt this great player start aiming somewhere else?
Sissoko does 100% of what he can do

beats me... Eriksen not beating the first man on over 65% of his attempts is embarrassing in its own right.

What annoyed me about the Sissoko chance late on was that he was lazy to begin with and if he hadn't been it could have been a very different scenario. Yes I know it was late on in the game and no one would be fresh, but his USP is running about and he just doesn't react. It wasn't until Eriksen steamed past him, took defenders away, and the space opened up for him that he did anything. Blazing it over the bar was just the cherry on top.

If he'd been alert and got on his bike straightaway and made a proper run forward ahead of Kane like Eriksen did then it might have a) seen him through one on one (and hit row Z the back of the net) or b) he would have been the one taking defenders away and leaving Eriksen to arrive on the scene with space edge of the box to have the shot.......

Oh well.

It’s not just that. His passing is terrible. He can make a basic pass if under no pressure but otherwise the pass is not right. Slightly behind or in front of the recipient. I reckon in 2 months time our best team won’t involve him.

As a deliberate tactic it's up there with our ingenious 'be shit for an hour and save energy for the last 30 mins' that people thought was intentional.

Ffs Sissoko dribbled his way forward and messed up like he does. Lazy?
He is the LEAST lazy of all our players

The sooner Davies comes in for rose the better. He needs to be starting until Sessegnon is deemed ready to start. Then with foyth at RB and n'dombele in the centre, hopefully with sissoko in bench, then we are a much more solid team

I don't disagree but Sissoko has really worked hard and done the best that he could. He has been man of the match several times when our stars have been crap

Any player can still be lazy in a moment. It was either that or game instinct and not reacting.

I'm not talking about the break down the left either that he charged down, the one where Kane picked him out edge of the box.

Ok yes Sissokko has improved alot since he started the club. But i just cant fanthom how he hasnt improved his shooting. Surely that something he should be working on in training as its a major weakness. But i see absolutely no improvement.

Lol - look at the BBC report... Before the game the "line" was "Spurs on down Arsenal on up".

Now it's a "stirring come back" but the plucky Arse.
