Thank fuck for Shay Given - the only media person I've seen yet to highlight Nketiah's dangerous tackle on Vicario.

Just looks worse every time you see it. Cannot understand why people shrugged it off so easily. Horrendous tackle.

As soon as I saw it I thought out of control and dangerous.

And it's just a yellow.

Incredible really

How the fuck did Vicario not break his leg here and what are VAR looking at?

Yup. And then seeing the Chelsea red which was reviewed by VAR to upgrade it from a yellow makes it more bizarre it wasnt looked at

Not saying it was the right decision by ref and VAR, but I think what saved Nketiah was his foot/leg was low and his studs don't connect with Vicario. Gusto had his studs on the player's ankle despite winning the ball.

But he really should have gone and it looks worse every time I see the still image of the contact. And I'm surprised I haven't seen it mentioned more.

What Nketiah did as an action is waaayyy more dangerous than what Gusto did. If Vic doesn't lift his foot instinctively his career is potentially over. It's an horrendous tackle that should be priority for VAR to stamp out and yet they didn't even bother.

His right foot was higher than that, it just missed Vicario which is what saved him. Probably shouldn't though, I don't think you should have to make the contact for it to be punished.

They were Poor from his POV though. No way Maddison should have waltzed past Saka so easily and Son beat 3 defenders. And Jorghino was very slow. Absolutely Poor.
True, but...

It could also be argued that both Arsenal goals were poor from our POV:
1) Porro should have shown Saka down the line, rather than inside. Romero shouldn't have stuck out his leg to deflect Saka's shot past Vicario.
2) Arguably a poor VAR decision, but definitely a very soft penalty even if it was technically the correct decision, and poor defending to allow someone to get into that shooting position in the first place.

Jorginho has always been slow and had probably lost half a yard of pace since he signed for Chelsea, so that's just a shortcoming of the player that the manager has to factor into selection / tactical decisions, rather than a poor piece of play. I would argue it was a poor decision by Arteta to sign him, after Chelsea had decided he wasn't good enough for them. Even in his prime, he strikes me as a player well-suited to Arteta's style of play...more of a Conte / Mourinho player perhaps.

Still scratching my head that the ball hits Whites arm before he takes the shot for the penalty. You can see Brennan appeal for the handball.

As all will have read by now, best start to a Spurs season since 65/66.
Also back then we met Arsenal in round 6 and played 2-2 (though at home).
The following round we lost against Leeds, so if we take point against Liverpool then we improve on that season start.

Of course our title winning 60/61 season won't be matched, won 11 first games with first loss in round 17.

Late
Out of control
Reckless
Excessive force
Endangering an opponent

Sure he misses with the studs but the five points above all still apply.

Who saw the black dressed Arsenal ultras in the front of the not sure what end? Cringe!
Yeah mentioned this at the time. It was the most embarrassing thing I've ever seen at a football match. 😂
