Romero to absolutely send mbappe back to Paris within the first 10 minutes.

Hopefully doesn't get sent off in the process

C'mon Messi !

I really want to see Messi lifting that cup, it would be reminiscent to those videos of Diego doing the same a couple of years before I was born.

But if that's not the case, at the very least I will be seeing Hugo doing it for the second time and that would also make me very happy (though I do remember that first time that stupid idiot of Giroud got in the way while Lloris was lifting the cup, and kinda blocked it from the camera angle).

In any case, Argentina really has to win this, if for no other reason that to remind to the world that South America is as great at football as Europe.

Win win here in my mind. Messi finishes his career with the one thing he has missing on his CV or our club captain, a player who has been with us for a decade, wins it back to back.

Just hope it's a good game with plenty of goals.

Fuck Messi. I mean, on one level yeah it'd be great but on another, nah, not for me.

This Argentinian team are a bunch of snide, nasty fuckers and the sportsmanship they showed when the won on penalties against the Dutch was enough to make your arsehole vomit.

If they score first in the final they'll take time wasting to a new level and if they go behind, it could get very very nasty.

I mean, time wasting doesn't really work in this world cup, does it?

Also, that dutch team totally had it coming. Just look at their total lack of sportsmanship each time a player from Argentina was on his way to take a penalty, even their goodie two shoes of a cop goalkeeper went out of his way to try to rattle Lautaro as he was getting ready to kick his penalty. @Ossie85 made a good post about it in that match's thread. I'm pretty sure they were just following instructions of LVG, but still.

Even though they didn't partake in any time wasting in the semi-final - they just played superb football across all three lines and controlled things from start to finish, whether or not they had the ball. If there is a snide, nasty fucker in the Argentine squad, it's Cuti, so where does that leave you? Get over your prejudice and appreciate an excellent football team being excellently lead and excellently managed.

I agree they are being managed quite well. Don't get me wrong, I will hate Scaloni and his crew for the rest of my life for not taking Erik Lamela with them, but can't deny anymore the great work he's doing and I really hope he keeps doing that for at least 5 more days.

Ok, I appreciate Argentina and their excellent football, they are excellently led and most excellently managed :playful:

But for many, many reasons going back many, many years i'd rather watch a team of rugby players slam my mum like a shithouse door (again :D) than see Argentina win it.

If they do, then good for you

Allez les bleus :hungry:

Just about the last option on an Englishman's list for the final but my eight year old grandson wants Argentina to win so that'll do for me.

Heart says Argentina for Messi's sake (and Romero)
Head says France who will control the game.

So heart it is then.

Was ever a player as misnamed as 'Cuti'

I'm not fussed who wins.

Would be great for Lloris to captain the winning team again.
Would be hilarious for Messi to win it and watch the reaction of Ronaldo fans.

This. The Ronaldo fans' meltdown would be something else.
