We are definitely is for a couple of rough seasons (nobody can really say what happens further than that). Getting money back when the lockdown ends will help.

The next managerial appointment will be key. I just hope mourinho doesn't fall out with too many of our players because we can't afford it.

Why can other teams have a off season and come back? (Chelsea for example) Yet we have consistently been up the top 4 for the last few seasons with a lot of structure put in place to support the club but a poor season means that is it, we've had our time and we'll slide away with all our top players leaving.

No.

Thankfully most people aren’t over reacting.

(I suspect losing tonight might see this thread explode though ?)

We aren't any different, people are just sensationalising the issue and it's our week to have it from the media (Sky).

On a side note Sky is rapidly turning in to Talksport, commentators say something outlandish and it (and they) suddenly become news worthy. BBC commentary for the Saints V City game last night was quite refreshing. Balanced commentary and actual game analysis, not a lot to ask for really.

In summary, fuck Sky.

You absolutely cannot put a time scale on how long it will take for us to return to being title challengers, or even realistic top four contenders. I honestly think these six games are key to where we will be next season. We need to try and integrate as many youth/fringe players as we can in to the starting 11, and really see them tested to find out whether they're worth a place in the squad next season.

For me, the only players who are guaranteed to be here next season are Lloris, Lo Celso, Dier, Skipp, Sessegnon, Bergwijn, Fernandes, Parrott and Tanganga. I'm not saying that particular players which I've omitted will be sold, but they all realistically could be if the right offer came in.

That alone scares the shit out of me. That's not even a player for each position. As far as I'm concerned, the rebuild starts here. The worry is I don't think Mourinho is the right person to carry us through a rebuild, so I can see us stagnating to the point where it's too late.

I'd consider myself one of the more positive posters on here, but I honestly can't see much light at the moment.

We started 18 months ago.

:shifty:
The next eight and a half years will just fly by
with all the excitement of new managers, even new owners
backing our own youth, transfer rumours galore, flirting with relegation
The games won't even matter for a while so we can concentrate
on the important things outlined above and no Europe or trophies to worry about.
Bliss.

Taking into account Harry could be leaving either this summer or next, no funds for spending, too many players not good enough.
All this self-pitying hypothetical talk of Kane leaving soon... have we actually heard any ITK saying this is the case? I know Kane has been quoted in the past about how he is happy to stay as long as the club keep progressing and matching his ambitions, but I'm sure he can see from the inside that we are now transitioning under a new manager, a manager that clubs normally only hire in with ambition to win silverware.

We're going through a rough patch, much like when Poch came in and the squad needed rid of deadwood and time to put the new tactics in place. I think we as fans should try our best to accept what we're going through right now and back the team by having a little patience for the much-needed rebuild to take place and then bear fruit.

We have been here before when Bale left and we were on a down turn. The important thing is we need a proper plan for the next stage. We need to appoint a DOF and a New Manager that will make us competitive again. To me Mourinho is a spent force who we hired probably too late in his career. Levy needs to move on from having any involvement in football side of things and hire someone to do this and trust them.

Look at it like this - you'll lose the day trippers, the plastics, the casuals and home games will be full of people who want to be there. It'll sound like the inside of a wind tunnel if any of you are allowed to stand up and sing, but at least you'll know in your heart of hearts it's your club and that beer and sausage roll made it all worth it at half time.
I said this would happen three years ago on this board when the Stadium was getting built. It's the reason why I didn't see the point in building at 62k seater Stadium when I used to be able to get tickets for a 35k stadium as a member quite easy even when we were doing well.

Once the novelty of the new stadium dropped off the casuals and day trippers disappear, we are then left with a stadium too big for us. But Levy's ego took over and had to give us a stadium bigger than Arsenal's when it was never warranted.

Tbf West Ham fill their dustbin, so we should be able to with ours, especially with 56K on waiting list. 10 years is such a long time. 10 years ago, who would have thought Bournemouth would be in the Prem ? Portsmouth were in the Prem. So much can happen.

As much as Levy is a stubborn f~~~~r, in the next ten years Joe Lewis will probably pass away and our ownership will probably have changed hands.

I think what galls of us, is we were so close to making it happen and we've blown it.

I think most people would believe that Chelsea would go bullish in the transfer market to get back up there where we double down on the the disappointment and cut back.

As the team is the CL places would be difficult but improve a few positions and we'll be in competition for it. The competition will be tougher though, four of the teams with bigger budgets have sorted themselves out and that will be harder to contend with.

Whilst what the team have served up over the last two has generally been awful, the darkest hour is just before dawn. Whatever anyone thinks about Mourinho's style and tactics, being outdated etc, there's nobody better at instilling a winning mentality into a club. We've been missing that mental toughness since I can remember. We need him and Levy to recruit smartly this summer and it could start looking rosy again pretty quickly.

Who knows.

The summer will be very interesting. He ha the stadium and has the superstar manager so the levels of investment will be telling.

We need a rebuild. I cant see levy doing it this summer but him not doing it will upset his manager even more. If the chairman is planning on being tight with cash and using corona as an excuse that may by perfectly valid and jose might back him but after a few bad results jose is going to use that as an excuse over and over again , then as the fans really get fed up mourinho will blame levy as there is no way he is taking the blame.

It could really backfire if levy isn't careful.

Define mediocrity. If you mean a period of not being competitive and qualifying for EL footy at best then yes you're probably right. If you mean bobbing just above the relegation zone then you're wrong.
