oyvind leonhardsen used to get properly tanked up in the duke of wellington in wanstead when he was out injured. he was pretty much a regular until the shame of a god awful rendition of 'total eclipse of the heart' at one karaoke night made it too diifcult for him to show his face again. his darts are still behind the bar as far as i know.

Shame they don't go a drinking around the ground - but used to back in the days.
The new aristocracy perhaps?
Nice to hear all the stories here, giggled at a few too!

Has anyone ever seen Tony Adams pissed up in a pub anywhere in London?

Hutton used to drink in the Red Lion in Radlett, occasionally. Never saw him lashed in there though, although he would put a few away. More frequent when injured.

Bloody hell, bet that's the first time Tom Heffernan's been mentioned on SC (or anywhere since the internet was invented!)

Back in the 60s it was usually The White Hart by the Spurs ground at lunchtimes after training and I was often there having a drink and a chat with the players. After Saturday night games, several players would go to The Bell & Hare too. Regulars included Jimmy Greaves, Cliff Jones, Terry Venables, John White, Dave Mackay, Bobby Smith, John Hollowbread and Terry Dyson and some of the reserves and youth team players. Some also belonged to a small drinking and dancing club, then called the Carlton Club, in Arnos Grove and Dave once took me there - players from other London clubs used it too and a few were there that evening.

When I was too young to get away with going in pubs under age (I'm talking about 15 and under) friends and I would have bottles of "pop" with some of the youth team players in George's Cafe in the High Road after training. I was never asked my age at 16 in the pubs when I started work and never had a problem with landlords, especially ex-boxer Joe Lucy who managed the White Hart.

I don't recall players going to the Corner Pin where I went on Friday evenings to meet up with Spurs supporting pals when I was in my teens. Some who lodged around Park Lane may have done at other times, like Jimmy Collins who liked a drink or two - or more - and often got into punch-ups!

Most of those places are long gone but I have great memories of them and the 1960s players.

I know that Cliff later used The Cambridge pub which he could walk to easily from his house in Palmers Green.

Players did go to local nightclubs as well and I would sometimes bump into some of them and be bought a drink or two but they didn't earn what they do now or have the same superstar status although they were always popular and sociable. It was a very different and much more affordable scene.

Graham Roberts said he was going to come in the B&H yesterday but didn't show while I was there. The only other player I have seen was an ex Spammer and Sky reporter in The Beehive two seasons ago. He is massive

Well it was hardly worth a mention but Bentley was in the goffs oak on Friday. Seemed very relaxed, was laughing and joking with customers. Whenever I look at that guy u just think what a waste:( he could have been so much more for us, shame
