Canny move by Moyes, this. It gives Everton the option of Lescott at left-back with Gardner partnering Yobo in the centre. Everton have one of the smallest squads in the league and, after letting Stubbs go (which in itself was surprising), they had to bring in another Premiership quality central defender. What better than one with something to prove?

Gardner to Everton hmmm.

I personally think Gardner is a fine defender and Everton have got a bargain. I can also understand the logic in him being load/sold after our lay out on current defenders and his record with injuries.

I still think Gardner wasn't given half the credit Dawson gets for some reason.

Strange, strange move. Can't understand why Everton need him.

good luck to him anyway.
...and when will they be able to use him....he's always injured

But it would be good if he got fit and they could buy him cause he's not good enuff for us.

However, a true professional and i wish him all the best! :)

Hopefully, he'll get some time on the pitch. I agree with Kendall, he's been unfortunate to be racked with injury to the extent that he has. And mistakes by a player do not detract from his quality and are no reason to get rid of a player who has been one of the most professional and patient players we've ever had.

If he can stay fit (always a big if with Big Tone) then he'll get minutes on the pitch and when he comes back we may well be able to use him more.

Good luck Tony. Enjoy your spell at Everton and we (well, most of us) look forward to welcoming you back in the summer.

A bit like Callum Davenport told he was going to be the next best thing but failed to deliver on so many levels.
Sad to see him go though has no one can say he was not commited unfortuantly has mr ramos is finding out like alot of players, just not good enough.

I hope this loan is just so he can prove he can stay fit. His 4th choice and a good pro who never moans.

Makes sense. I think Ramos sees the Hudd as a CB so even after this deal we have 6 CB's which is too many. I think Big Tone will leave for a permanent deal in the summer (although maybe not to Everton) and possibly Rocha and Dawson.

Suppose a lot depends on who we buy in the summer.

I'm almost certain he's seriously injured. He's always in the group of three alongside Ekotto and Bale in long-term injuries in Team News on the Official Site.

He's a better footballer than Dawson. Injury has wrecked this kids career. Good luck to him, he's due some.

Oh man id only just stopped pannicing when he got near the ball and then he goes and leaves!

Good luck to him, if he stays i dont mind but if he comes back i will welcome him with open arms as a fairly solid backup, though i guess the latter is unlikely right now

(yes im a day behind everyone else, ive been busy, i only found out about defoe at 6 o clock by reading the back of someone elses newspaper, thats no way to find stuff out)
