Hate to say this but either the club has been sent up the garden path on this, or some people just don’t know as much as they think. I understand there’s slides and then there’s rollercoasters but for someone to be “99%” moving to one club one minute, only for it to all fall apart moments later and a deal to another club be ‘done’. Something stinks.

Pretty obv what happened here…we wanted loan with option. Looked like Barça were coming around to accept. Brighton comes in willing to do a straight loan and Barca deals with them over us as they want to keep his rights. A straight loan never made sense for us.

If the only option was a dry loan I don't really care at all. He's 20, has massive wages and a terrible injury history - that's the kind of player you take a punt on if you're looking to commit to their development in the long term, not for a loan.
