The problem was instead of just removing the portion of damaged meniscus, which most professional athletes do, he attempted to have it repaired. The repair of a meniscus is a much longer rehab but is better down the road when you get older and wear and tear. Fati’s issue was the repair didn’t heal right and he kept going back to same surgeon and had a total of three operations to have it repaired. The repair never worked and he ended up just having it removed. Again, a partial meniscus removal is an extremely common knee surgery in athletes. There are NFL players who have it done in season and are playing again in 1-2 weeks. His knee is fine.
