er, well yes...but with poll!

Judging by the amount of Gomes post, its is fair to say their is a question mark over who should be between the sticks next season. IMO Goal keeper is a bit of thankless task, so i rarely comment on GK, But i have to be honest, whilst Gomes has made some fantastic saves, some matching winning saves, some MOM performances, i think it is also fair to say, every clubs GK, as done that, from their fans POV. For me Gomes, just does not instill confidence, doesn't command the area, does not seem assured, always seem like a cock up is just around the corner. GK make howlers occasionally, occasionally they get away with them, But i have to honest Gomes makes me nervous, i think the defense are not confident in him. IMO he is not decisive enough, and prone to wrong decision selection to regularly.

So rather than looking around the world, i have just looked a GK in the prem, GK that i think we would get if we went for them, offering 1st team football, 1st choice option. GK not older than 32...thereby guaranteeing at least 3years top performance. GK with an equal to or higher season rating than Gomes, from SKY SPORTS player performance (not fans, sky sports own rating)

The list is in no particular order. choose who you want, if you would choose more than 1 above Gomes, list their names in order of preference.

Tim Howard Everton 32 yrs old Sky sport rating 6.5
Scott Carson WBA 25 yrs old Sky sport rating 6.4
Simon Mignol Sunderland 22 yrs old Sky sport rating 6.6
Craig Gordon Sunderland 28 yrs old Sky sport rating 6.8
Ben Foster Birmingham 28 yrs old Sky sport rating 6.9
Matthew Gilks Blackpool 28 yrs old Sky sport rating 6.5
Wayne Hennessey Wolves 24 yrs old Sky sport rating 6.6
Robert Green West Ham 31 yrs old Sky sport rating 6.6
Gomes Spurs 30 yrs old Sky sport rating 6.4

So what do you vote!?

In the absence of a 'none of these' option I voted keep Gomes.

Same, what's the point in replacing one GK prone to runs of mistakes with at best another one, and at worst one who makes mistakes but isn't capable of doing the odd bit of fantastic stuff?

I do think we need to go shopping, but we should be aiming a bit higher than bottom half of the PL 'keepers.

Sure, but for any team, getting a World class GK, isn't overly easy, and to be fair, there are more teams above us, in the pecking order, than there are world class GK.

All of the GK, except 1, have a higher rating than Gomes for this season. and are prem proven. What to say they would become a top Goal keeper, at Spurs than with there current team?

edit PS all of those GK mentioned have done the odd bit of fantastic stuff

Kuszczak for me. Maybe Foster.

yes i was going to add him to the list, but i just didn't think we could get him.. With United needing a new GK, I just don't think they would let him go, plus His Sky Sports ratio is 6.3, 0.1 lower than Gomes, So didn't meet the criteria. However I am happy to add him to the poll...........if you tell me how to do it:grin: or if it needs a mod to do her are his stats

Tomasz Kuszcza Man u 29 yrs old Sky sport rating 6.3

Given a few of them have already been tested and failed for clubs that are higher than us already, I'd say that would provide strong evidence that they're not worth considering. We're not talking about the best of the best, as you say we (and most clubs) have no chance of getting 'keepers like Neuer or Adler in reality even if we were prepared to shell out silly money, but that doesn't mean there aren't better 'keepers out there.
