Hmm. On Netflix you can watch in HDR even if the screen you're watching it on is sub-4K/UHD.

Except you’re not really watching in HDR. In fact, it may even make the picture worse.

But you are? My phone is Dolby Vision and so is the picture. You can bring down the toolbar to make it go to SDR and compare the difference.

If your phone tech is optimised for HDR and can output colours at Rec.2020 then yeah, otherwise what you are getting is a kind of fudged HDR.

Yes I should have stated you can watch HDR on sub-UHD screens IF your sub-UHD screen happens to be HDR. Rare but possible.

Yeah, unlikely you have a TV that's HDR but not 4K but mobile devices are more likely to be HDR capable.

Yeah I hate watching if I’m a bit behind, more often than not I get texts from my Dad commenting on what’s just happened so it becomes annoying.
I was just pointing out that this facility is available

I turn my notifications off if I'm behind or streaming. Too many games have been ruined by the Sky, Eurosport and Spurs apps!

Yeah that why i said 'not technically', they aren't mutually exclusive mate.
But it seems to be the trend that in broadcasting UHD and HDR normally come hand in hand.

Cool, I have it on my tv and Xbox one x and need to figure out which will be better. TV is 4K so hopefully it’ll be UHD on there.
As long as your internet is good, you should defo get UHD on your TV app, as long as you're telly isn't getting on like @WalkerboyUKs

Anyone checked the time delay and how it compares to other means of broadcast/streaming?

Just checked and I do get the UHD on the TV app. Need to plug in my Ethernet power line in to it as I get 60mb download and wired is so much better than WiFi.

I used Wifi on my telly last night (5GHz) and it was spot on, UHD with no buffering or stuttering whatsoever, but my router is only about 6feet from my telly.
You're right though, wired is normally more stable and faster generally speaking.

I think someone mentioned it was a minute or so behind, not ideal but I can live with it.

Bummer. I swear I've seen some bootleg streams that were in front of BT's own terrestrial broadcasts, like the Ajax semifinal last year. I've always wondered how it was done.
