If Bastoni is as good as we are all being told - to sell him would be foolish . Do clubs really sell their top draw players against their wish. Im sure if he wants go come, we have him. If he doesn't we don't. If I were inter I would want first choice to buy him back and in some way control the fee.

We need to back the manager but signing a young Italian player (and one that apparently issn 100% convinced to come) is something that should concern the club longer term. It is hard to know with Conte how long he will be here for and I suspect that will be in the player's mind too. We can't be scared though, if the manager wants him, we should (and sounds like we are) go all out to get him. Who knows what will happen in 12 months time, if he wants out then, he wants out then, there is little we can do. This is an instance of us doing what Conte has asked for and acting like a big club. Hard for a lot of us to get our heads around, but I think we need to, the manager won't have it any other way.
I get what you are saying but my thinking is everyone who knows Conte knows he is not doing a five year plan. He wants success immediately. So if the players he wants in don't see England forever then that's not an issue. We have never been in this position and it definately is a different beast. I personally am sick to the back teeth of plans. This is the year we forget all the financials ffs. Let's just go 100% behind Conte and enjoy the ride.

They have to clear 50m euros by the end of the window or they are in big trouble I believe.

Its no good selling 2 or 3 lesser players for the same value you'd get for Bastoni as they have to be replaced. Its been stated that it has to be Lautaro, Barella or Bastoni.

It would've been others like De Vrij or Skrinirar but with contracts out in 2023 they wont get the funds.

You cant replace the premium of goals Lautaro offers and Barella is deemed untouchable, hes the best CM in the league. Therefore they dont really have a choice but make profit on Bastoni when they are not going to be left significantly weaker with Bremer in.

Isn't it by the end of this month rather than the end of the window?

Skriniar might have been badly injured on international duty. Thigh injury. Was in tears on bench. Could have consequences for Bastoni deal? Not sure.

it means they have one less player they can realistically sell - probably increases their desperation tbh

Tomori and Abraham - good Prem players, but they’re not getting near the team of the year over here

Important context really

Well, it's more like Chelsea are so heavily competitive in their positions that they couldn't give these players the support and time to truly develop as players. Similar to what will most likely happen with bergwijn.

I've seen Guehi and Gallagher turn up in multiple TOTS in recent weeks which kinda disproves this point.
Yeah, but really? I mean they've both done really well but if you were picking a team to win a final tomorrow from all the players in the Prem based on last season neither of them would get a look in. I mean they've undoubtedly shone for their respective teams, but their respective teams are a few levels below the top teams. If like I say you were a manager that had the pick of the entire Premier league based purely on last seson you wouldn't be picking any of your starting XI from outside the top 4.

Yeah I wouldn't disagree with that. I'd wouldn't have either in the top 5 or probably even top 10 for their position. I'd have either at Spurs though.

If said club needed the money; YES.

..and if the owners were a less scrupulous Chinese company only in it for the money with very little regard for anything other than the bottom line; YES.

Abraham shouldn’t be in the team of the year over there either. A few player, Martinez included outscored him.
