Does anyone think this story that Ten Hag wants to buy Dumfries could throw a spanner in the works? As then they don;t have to sell Bastoni?

As you bring that up, didn't someone (the inter fan) say Bremer wouldn't be a replacement for Bastoni? Most seem to be linking the two deals but would we be waiting on inter to sign someone else or do they have ready made waiting in the wings?
As far as I know inter can't afford to sign Bremer without letting Bastoni go.

They are not like for like players though.

I will add I wanted both Bastoni and Bremer, especially if Bremer at that price of €30mio

I guarantee if us or another prem team were in for him you could add another 10m-15m onto the asking price. Everyone in Europe knows prem teams have money so we are quoted bigger fees accordingly.

Agreed, but that's precisely why Inter wanted Bremer wrapped up before they sign off on Bastoni leaving.

Imo, €30m is roughly what Sanchez is worth. The idea of a better player being available for that, plus our modestly priced January signings doing so well, gives me optimism that the market may be easier for us to navigate than I had feared (due to the reported high valuations of most of our targets).

Yeah, I like Ben Davies a lot and it is harsh to immediately look to him and say we should do better, but Bastoni is a different class. I do still want to see a more CCB option brought in, but Bastoni would be so huge for us.
The good thing about our squad/starting 11 right now is that it's clear to see where we can upgrade, and, as good as he's been, Davies is one of these positions.

The others are LWB (tick), RWB, and Hoijberg.

Bastoni was brought up in this video. Fabrizio confirmed our interest and, very interestingly, said nothing about bastoni not wanting to leave. “his agent was very clear, it will depend on the proposal”

Not sure we are going to upgrade on rwb, as I thinks Docherty is finally in his correct position. Depth signing maybe at rwb.

Tad harsh on hojbjerg

I’d like Marc Guehi for that role, meant to be a real leader for being so young! Homegrown and a good potential to take over from Dier! I could see Palace being interested in Winks and/or Tanganga.

The thing with the wing backs is there will most likely be 4 that play in a lot of games so yes Doherty will probably play a lot, but so will the ‘backup’.

The truth is we need to get out of the habit of buying backups and start buying players ready to step into the first team, hence why yes, it may be harsh to say PEH can be upgraded upon, however he’s one of our 4 weakest starting 11 players, the other three all look to be getting a makeover as well.

Don't think they'll be looking to move him on this summer after only signing him last summer. And for them to even consider it would be a ridiculous fee for a largely unproven player.

sounds like it ties up with Trix saying he's happy to come.. must be a complicated deal and as we sort of know lots of moving parts involved, hopefully just a matter of things falling into place

Yea that is true for both points, we do need to start looking at homegrown players and that goes hand in hand with high prices.

Links to the other thread where people are uncertain on Spence, better to gamble at 15-20 than wait til theyve had one decent prem season and cost 50mil. Big money for big fish (Bastoni), smaller homegrown gambles (Spence) seems the best bet.

Is this anything new? They’ve been closing in on him for well over a fortnight by my reckoning. This looks like the same story regurgitated for the umpteenth time.

Maybe not, but longari has been good for us and seems quite reputable, dont think ive seen anyone say inter have been closing?

did Romero join us after Atalanta signed Demiral? hope it will be similar for Bastoni/Bremer
Virtually a cross paths deal.

FP pretty much brokered the deal to navigate Atalanta around the clauses that took Romero from Juve to Atalanta (and then simultaneously to us on loan). At the same time he would have had inside knowledge on Demiral’s contract due to his previous exposure at Juve, so no doubt gave Atalanta a heads up.

Fabio must know the in’s and outs of a lot of deals from his time at Juventus.

Whilst Dier’s form has improved recently, I still have a slim hope that we could get hold of de Ligt too, someday. We‘ll need another central centre back I’d say. I suspect it’s several bridges too far for this summer but with just 2 years left in his contract, maybe Paratici could make something work. A move, maybe late in the window, for de Vrij wouldn’t surprise me either.

A back 3 of Romero, de Ligt & Bastoni would match any back 3 in Europe. We can but dream!

Appreciated in #serieA the profile of #Tottenham's #Tanganga. Lots of enquiries for the class 99 defender, who was liked by AC Milan in January. Inter and Napoli have also sounded the ground, at the moment without delving deeper.

Interesting development

Well looks like Bastoni is ours, if the Bremer news is correct. No way inter get Bremer and keep Bastoni imo.

Although Bremer appears a steal at €30mio
Not necessarily, could mean another big player is off and sometimes these clubs just find a way. Weren't Barca supposed to be skint?
