I was impressed, looks quick and very composed on the ball.Linked well with the players and can only improve, had a good game against rooney which most defenders find tough.
Looks a very good purchase.:):)

reserve your praise, jesus, he wasn't that good. All the attacks came from that wing and I don't remember seeing him doing anything amazing on the attack either.

CGHimbonda still 10x better in all respects. On either side lol.

watch the game again bozo. he made one good challenge that I can remember whilst Chimbonda made several. He flew up the wing on only a couple ocassions one of which, he got dispossesed SO easily and the other few he put in a mediocre cross.

Also, most of Manures attacks were down Hutton's wing. He looked so fraile against Rooney, Giggs, Ronaldo and Tevez.

So therefore defensively and attacking he was pretty average.

Especially in comparison to Chimbonda, who not only played out of position, but also excelled.

But, true, it's Hutton's debut in a new league etc. I think he looks promising, but not anything special to judge from that game alone IMO.

Mum, is that you?

I'm not here to rag Chimbonda, but are you judging their comparison on one single game? Mate, Chimbonda has been fondling the balls of lucifer, on and off, for a good few months, his complete lack of enthusiasm only adding fuel to that shitrag rumour. He constantly fails to get back and do his defensive duties which, afterall being a defender, you'd think he'd have higher up his to-do list, and his passing has gone from apparently able to hit a penny with a cross field hoof to loosing the ball carelessly with really poor decisions. Granted, against Man U he played fantastically well, and out of position - he stayed back a LOT more than he has done before and tracked his man well. He jumped well and was generally very good in a lot of areas that he has recently really let himself down.

Also, most of Manures attacks were down Hutton's wing. He looked so fraile against Rooney, Giggs, Ronaldo and Tevez.

To be honest, i also expect him to take on four players who probably all rank in the top 10 or 15 in the premiership today. :|

What do you want from him? They knew he was green, of course they sent everything at him! Target the new boy, see what he's made of and, personally, i thought his covering, his backing up of the central pair and his general strength in the challenge was great - he outmuscled Rooney not once, not twice, but three times to my count. He might have hung off of him, but he blocked at least a couple of attempted crosses from Ladyboy - what does he have to do to earn a bit of recognition from you? Cure cancer at half time then come out and set up 5 goals, whilst servicing a 1990 metro?

I only ask as, for a debut performance in the premiership, i can't think of many as solid and consistant as that, except maybe O'Hara first showing, and he was a late sub.

So therefore, in my opinion, defensively and attacking he was pretty average.

i couldn't be arsed to argue why this was so wrong, so i mended it for you, re read it then just rolled my eyes, chuckled and carried on... wasn't that easier?

Especially in comparison to Chimbonda, who not only played out of position, but also excelled.

"Hello? Yes, is that Greggs the bakers? Oh, hi, yeah, we need a cookie delivered to White Hart Lane, for the attention of Mr Pascal Chimbonda. Yes, right away, thank you - you can put it on Dynamospurs' tab, thanks"

i already said he did well in the Man U game, doesn't erase the fact he's played like a mong in games before that

That's fine having that opinion but, personally, and from what i read the majority on here and from the reviews i heard from the ex-pros and commentators, he had a very solid show for us in his first game at a new club, in a new league, in a new country, against the likely champions strongest side, which includes some of the most dangerous and skillfull players in the world.

If that's not enough for you then maybe you should wonder if you expect too much

Technically speaking it's unnecessary to add "in my opinion", as it should be clear that all posts are the poster's opinion
Just thought I'd point it out

You have already disagreed with your opening statement, within your first paragraph. And surely you're fondling Hutton's balls after one appearance??? Chimbonda has played fantastically well for us in 2 seasons, how can you deny or dispute this?? Remember time when Chelsea were showing heavy interest? Now whether or not that was paper talk or they really wanted him or whatever, it does point to the fact that he was doing something right... He's a great player for Tottenham and offers so much going forward, with the ocassional mistake defensively. We can debate all day on how good/bad he is defensively, as I have obviously missed ALL these woeful defensive errors he has allegedly made...

To be honest, i also expect him to take on four players who probably all rank in the top 10 or 15 in the premiership today. :|
Never mind that, Chimbonda kept one of the best players (if not, the best player) in the world at bay for most parts of the game with superb tackling, closing down and tracking back. Which I have seen him do quite often. What about his storming Ledley King'esque tackle against Tevez inside the box?? Yeah sure, he sucks defensively.

What do you want from him? They knew he was green, of course they sent everything at him! I beg to differ here as well.. If you REALLY genuinely believe that Manure were targeting the new boy, then tell me why they didn't put their star-man, Ronaldo on the left flank, where he is equally capable? Because I can quite easily suggest that they were targeting our left flank where we had a right-footed wholly right sided full-back playing..

He might have hung off of him, but he blocked at least a couple of attempted crosses from Ladyboy - what does he have to do to earn a bit of recognition from you? Cure cancer at half time then come out and set up 5 goals, whilst servicing a 1990 metro?
Listen , I don't do stats, but how can you disagree that most of the Manu atacks were formed from Hutton's flank??? They were bombing down there at will, right to the byline where so many crosses and corners were flying in from.

I'm NOT saing Hutton had a bad game (or is a bad player), I am just saying it may be wise reserve some of the emphatic and optimistic reviews/praise of him untill a few more games.

Agreed, it was an okay first appearance, but hardly noteworthy.

He goes AWOL.

A lot.

I'll agree Chimbonda was superb yesterday and his first six months for us were brilliant, but since then his frequent lapses in concentration and seeming unwillingness to track back have cost us several times. However, if he could fix that, he would be brilliant.
