The stuff about the fans and pressure at home is very interesting. Confirming what most of us knew anyway, that the declining atmosphere has really caused things to become more difficult for the players at home.

It's a shame that our players have to feel that way, we should be the catalyst to helping them win, not the reverse

Amazing interview. My bet is he had PTSD and should really of had counselling. He probably still needs it tbh as you have to systematically work your way through something like that.

Definitely see him in a new light and liked the way he was gracious about AVB.

Looks like he did a lot of growing up in 2013.

I did mention PSTD in another thread. It was dismissed by a number of people. The 2013 ACN was his first return to the tournament with Togo since the bus attack. That must've been incredibly triggering with regard to PSTD.

What I also find outrageous is that there were people on here saying that Ade can't have been that upset about his brother dying as they didn't get on. So fucking what? That may even make it worse, because there was no closure, unfinished business, guilt, regret etc.

Very good and heartfelt interview.

He came across well in the punditry he did for the World Cup in South Africa. But the majority of his most famous laziness and (sometimes violent) petulance was still ahead of him. It's easy to come across sincere and humble if you sincerely and humbly want to put across the best possible version of yourself on national teevee. I haven't watched the video because I don't like that uncertain feeling when someones pulling on your heartstrings but everything about their past behaviour tells you they're on the make. Probably he's very convincing. But I can't find any reason to bother trying to believe any wise / humble old Ade stuff till he actually shows he's learnt how to turn up when he's not feeling like it. Bah Humbug.

Watching the video and then reading comments like the above makes me want to cry. You can't even be arsed to watch the fucking thing! I despair.

What ade had been through, his priorities in life and the pressure he is under from being a national hero is beyond anything we can relate to.

I don't mind saying that I didn't think a lot of Ade over previous months. At all.

His attitude over the last few weeks, and now this interview, have changed everything. G'wan Ade!

Reading between the lines, I would say that AVB actually thought it best to put him through a counselling programme when Ade wanted to just play his way through his problems.

And now, with Hindsight, it's the reason he describes AVB as a great man - seeing that he was actually trying to do the best thing for the player.

Those that need help the most, aren't always the ones that accept it.

Oh karen.

If you had bothered to watch it you would see how silly this post looks. I don't think Ade was trying to pull on anyone's heartstrings here. If he was, he could've done it a lot more convincingly. He pretty much just tells things as they were in a very frank and surprisingly strong manner, considering the events he talks about.

Excellent interview. Adebayor is such an interesting football/life story. I think we have all underestimated the impact of that attack and the death of his brother. Just sit and think for 30 seconds what that experience would have been like and how that would impact upon you and your life. His heart is in the right place and he has his faults but he's a good person with good intentions.

It is easy to say the right things in an interview but there is no doubting how genuine that was. He meant everything he said. He clearly has matured a lot in the last year as reflected with is comments and opinion about AvB. He isn't as disrespectful and petulant as many of us thought.

During the match I heard someone singing "Adebayor, Adebayooor, he used to be clean shaven, he's not any more".

Embarrassing really.

Could picture his brother's kid etc going mental at home when he scored today. Great stuff.
