Yeah, that may be it. I just look at Townsend and don't see a good footballer. His first touch is appalling.

It was nothing short of that yesterday, that's for certain. I rate the player, but he gave it up far too easily yesterday for sure. At least he did a shift defensively though to make up for it.

What bugs me is that he's a better player than Townsend, yet it seems that Poch doesn't agree or thinks Townsend is a better fit.

Unless there's something behind the scenes we don't know about I just don't get it. If Townsend was a genuine goal threat I could understand, but he isn't.

I think poch thinks Townsend has more scope for development/improvement as well.

That's very optimistic tbf. lol

I'd prefer him to be moved on, personally.

Re topic, Aaron Lennon, my local BBC TV news station had an interview with Steve Bruce on which he said he would love to buy him if he can afford him.
Be interesting to see if he would like to join Hudd, Dawson and Livermore at Hull.

Would make for a new chant when Tigers play us.
Tottenham rejects, Tottenham rejects

Daily Mail say Southampton are showing interest in Lennon too. They can have him as part of the Schneiderlin deal which would be nice.

Lennon could and should have been a regular England inter but not ambitious enough. Like Jenas. Like a lot of players.
Hopefully we can get someone better. Harry has raised the bar.
Little legs Lennon will walk under it!;)

Wouldn't be sad to see the back of Lennon has not improved over last couple years, still can't shoot or pass. Hull would be a good fit for him. Yorkshire boy who will know a fair few ex teammates there

I am mates with an ex-United player (friends with Hughes) who says otherwise.
Guess we will see.

Really makes sense IMO. They need pace to open things up for Bojan more, as the Orc pack is just too cumbersome and slow to get on the end of his playmaking ability.

In another reality where we didn't have Lennon, I can't help but think we'd be drooling at the prospect of signing him for the money quoted (£7m)

Pacy home-grown player that's only 27...

I may be slightly biased, as Lennon has probably been my favourite Spurs player over the last 10 years, but it does feel as though we're treating him quite badly, for someone who has been a good servant to the club. Obviously I don't know what goes on behind closed doors, but he always seems to give 100% on the pitch and his form was good before being dropped from the squad with no explanation. Can see him being great for a West Brom or a Stoke and certainly worth £7-10m.

Not the only player 'dropped from the squad' though. Perhaps his dropping is unrelated to the other players disappearing from view and more likely because we want reduce the wage bill and this a way of getting the message over to him ?

Maybe so, but even if that's the case, it's not really a great way to treat your longest serving player and also isn't benefiting the squad if we're saying a player is dropped just to send a message rather than because he doesn't merit a place.

The ones who rate Berahino would drool no doubt.
