Our 6 new summer signings are all over 6ft. Will this have an impact on our style of play? Will it help us win physical battles in games? Will it improve our goals return from set plays?

Lloris 25 France 6,2" 38 Caps
Vertonghen 25 Belguim 6,2.5" 39 Caps 3 goals
Dembele 25 Belguim 6,1" 40 Caps 5 goals
Sigurdsson 22 Iceland 6,1" 9 Caps 1 goal
Dempsey 29 USA 6,1" 87 Caps 27 goals
Adebayor 28 Togo 6,3" 51 Caps 23 goals

If we assume that Dembele, Sigurdsson, Dempsey will replace Modric, VDV and Lennon, that is a massive improvement to the physical presence we'll have. Coupled with our two centre backs, Sandro and Adebayor (and perhaps Vertonghen at LB if Benny doesn’t pull his socks up) we could have 7 if not 8 players 6ft plus defending and attacking set plays. Perhaps our achilles heal from last season will be a major strength this season.

It's a good point and one I thought of as well so in theory it should make us much more threatening at corners and indirect free kicks - plus we won't have Modric hitting the first man either!

Sigurdson is 6'1? Wow he doesn't look tall on the telebox. Very deceptive...maybe his knees were bent - I'll have a closer look next time.

It's good to see some height - lets just hope we see some extra muscle in those scrappier games against the likes of Stoke and Sunderland and possible Spammers.

I wouldn't say it's a bad thing to have a little bit of Stoke-esqueness about us as long as we can play football as well.

The only players in our first choice team who are under 6 feet are Walker and BAE (assuming Sandro and Dempsey instead of Parker and Lennon). I think they are both pretty close to 6 feet as well though. Should give us something extra.

I saw a stat recently that said Vertonghen has lost only one aeriel duel in his two games.

Bale is 6'1". Did you mean Lennon?

Yes and lets also make the pitch at WHL as small and crappy as the Premier League will allow us to make it!!

I'm sure the Premier League have changed the ruling this year in that all pitches have to be the same size - much to Pulis's disgust!

we are lucky that all our taller players are fairly quick and technically adept which leaves Defoe as the small man of the team

Although I can see the benefit in the Premier League, especially against teams like Stoke, I'd rather technical players than big fuckers. After all, Baca have an average height of 4 foot.

But yes, it's good to have some big guys in the team that can play the ball.

I think we've bought technically gifted players too though. They are tall, but all can play football. Dembele is technically excellent and just happens to be a foot taller than Modric. Dempsey too, technically good and two foot taller than Lennon.

Lloris surprised me. I thought he looked smaller. 6ft 2 isn't at all as small as I thought.

Those 6 plus Sandro Bale Kaboul Huddlestone, not forgetting Dawson gallas and Caulker should give us plenty of threat from setplays. hopefully an and to those awful match stats where we've 30 shots 20 corners and 0 goals.
