This summer IMHO will see an absolutely massive overhaul of playing and coaching staff at the club, whether we finish top 4 or not. Aside from the usual contenders, our not very good squad players, we have to make serious changes to our first team. We could lose all of our coaching staff, and depending on who comes in to replace them, we could be looking at losing our half of our current 25 man squad.
GK
Friedel, Cudicini, Gomes - I wont be surprised to see all 3 leave or be released, though would expect Friedel to be retained.

Gallas, King, Nelsen, Bassong - will any of them be here next season? We can probably add Corluka to this.

Modric - I think he'll be gone regardless of where we finish. Last season I was dead against this. NOw I think he should go if the same money is offered. We have too much rebuilding to do and the money will be needed. In saying that, a Brendan Rodgers style of football would suit him down to the ground.

Adebayor, Saha, Defoe - will any of them still be here next season? Defoe will want more game time, Adebayor isn't worth breaking the bank for and Saha is well past his best.

We'll have the usual suspects too. Jenas, Giovani, Bentley. Perhaps Rose.

The rebuilding work gets a major boost with teh return to fitness of Huddlestone and Dawson. Both missed this season massively. Livermore has been adequate cover, but Hudd offers so much more.
We'll have Caulker returning to the squad a better player, as well as Naughton to provide cover at FB or perhaps push Benny for a starting berth.
We surely have money from previous player sales and we'll generate further money from the sale off perhaps Modric. We have to get back to signing exciting young talent, not has been stop gaps.

Remove King and Nelsen for Dawson and Caulker
Corluka sold and Naughton back in.
Modric sold with Huddlestone returning to fitness. Squad teaked and improved overall, with money available to purchase a quality Modric replacement.

The likes of Hoilett can be got on the cheap and provide competition and pace. Demebele will be a reasonable fee and looks a great talent. We'll have to be creative, and we'll have to get to work very early. An early appointment of the new Manager, identify our targets early and make our moves early.

Big, Big summer ahead. Should be the busiest in some years for us. Hopefully we have champions league football to offer our targets. Lets make this summer the success the summer of 2010 should have been.

God I forgot about Corluka. I'd love for him to stay, would be soid backup for the RB position in my opinion but I think he may seek a permanant move.

I agree that I think King and Nelson would probably need to go too so we definitely need another CB to go in the new season with Kaboul, Dawson, New Defender, Caulker and Gallas, I think I'd be happy with that. We need 2 new strikers I think also and I'd like to see Modric go this time round if he's not commited.

Hoilett should definitely be a target but I think the most important position to attend to is the strikers one. I also don't think Adebayor is worth breaking the bank for. I like him, but not for the money we'd probably have to pay.

Unfortunately I think we're gonna be hearing the 'we have to sell before we do any buying' talk as we still have:

Bassong
Bentley
Jenas
Dos Santos
Corluka
Kranjcar

All players that could be realistically sold. The first 4 you would think we'd be almost pushing them out.

To be honest, I'm waiting to see what happens in terms of top 4 before contemplating complete and utter change.

I think Harry should go regardless though - at the end of the season that is.

Was thinking this earlier, there are so many players that could and probably will leave along with money we should already have(30m bids for rossi and aguero?) and the money from pav, palacios and crouch along with the wages from all those leaving and any funds we get from selling them.

A manager who will buy to a system and not just a free for all on whose going cheap.

We may have a winner. Too extreme to happen though to be honest.

I think Harry should go regardless though - at the end of the season that is.

-im sorry but been 2 up away to fiercest rivals and bending over to concede 5
- apparently ,according to most, total dominating and never even looking remotely close to scoring a goal against united at home in a game where got hammered 3- 0
-been gifted open goals away to chelsea and failing to score time and again
and capping it all off losing and i mean losing by 5 goals in semi final against chelsea is totally totally totally unacceptable.
and dont even start me on points dropped at home when pressure was on agianst stoke, norwich and wolves. no team is perfect but its beyong a joke now.

we have a squad and team lacking in any character , balls, passion and ambition. some have raw ability but lack of a brain to go with it.

ill keep saying there is something seriously wrong withing the whole environment that is spurs for past 40 years. right across the board from trying to bring in youth players, to attracting the best coaches, to facilities, to absolutely everything spurs are second best and always have been.

i was at game yesterday and literally just arrived home in past hour(flew over, stayed night) and again the ffort of the majority of them was something little short of scandalous. the only time anyone showed any balls or character was parker in injury time when mikel got lippy..its unreal watching them since january. i beleiev roy keane was talking about lack of character in spurs , yesterday on tv, and never a truer word said. ill gladly accept defeat all day long when i see players from my team trying and really putting in effort. it was shocking yesterday and there simply was no belief. talk and talk talk is what we do, no action. man united might lose 6 - 1 to city at home in league match but what team gets beat or conceds 5 in a semi of real real importance. we concede 4 and 5 goals to top teams time and again like it goes out of fashion.

YET you want to wait and see if we get top 4? total top to bottom change is needed regardless, open your bloody eyes man. what difference will getting in top 4 to change that?

We've been trying to clear the dross out for years now and whilst on paper it seems a relatively straight forward task of getting rid of X and bringing in Y, in reality you will always have the likes of Bentley who we can't pay anyone to have so you'll ultimately be left with alot of loan departures in and around deadline day.

Other club's aren't stupid either and they know we have alot of deadwood which they can pick up on a less risky loan basis rather than pay us anything like the asking price.

It isn't restricted to our club, this is a situation for all the top clubs so we will just have to see how it pans out in the summer but I certainly don't envisage the huge upheaval that some of you are predicting/wanting.

other clubs know the pile of shit we have in reserves and dont want them, thats the bottom line and ones that are interested in them are the ones who cant afford the wages they are on.

like i said, time and time again, at very least half a dozen first teamers needed at spurs and to be of the highest highest calibre. sadly we will be lucky to get one or 2

A massive clear out ? It ain't going to happen in this financial climate.

We have a large squad anyway - tinker with it yes, wholesale change ? No

Goalkeepers:
Heurelho Gomes - Levy likely to take up his 2 year contract extention and sell him
Carlo Cudicini
Brad Friedel

Defenders:
Younes Kaboul
Michael Dawson
Steven Caulker
Kyle Walker
Benoit Assou-Ekotto
Kyle Naughton (can play left and right back)
Sebastien Bassong - Widely tipped to leave
Vedran Corluka - Widely tipped to leave.
William Gallas - one year left on his contract
Danny Rose
Adam Smith - cover at RB or LB, very similar to Walker ? Play him in pre-season to see.

Midfielders
Gareth Bale
Tom Huddlestone
Aaron Lennon
Scott Parker
Luka Modric - Might stay might go, if he goes we can replace
Sandro
Jake Livermore
Steven Pienaar - Can he play in our system
Rafael Van Der Vaart
Niko Krancjar - Doesn't really fit the 4231 system, unless as Modric/VDV replacement ?
Andros Townsend - very fast left/right wing cover,Bale/Lennon lookalike

Strikers:
Jermain Defoe (Only fits a redundant 442 system, sell him now as at 29 this is the last chance to get a decent fee)
Louis Saha (Can play 4231/433, keep for one season as cover

Sell/Release ? :
Gallas - Not sure he can do another season
King - Looking like this is his last season
Nelsen - Stop gap signing.
Bongani Khumalo - Does not look the part even in Championship
David Bentley
Jermaine Jenas
Giovani Dos Santos - Should have gone a long time ago.

Two strikers in, one CB in. Otherwise its pretty much one in and one out especially if the likes of Modric move on.

Oh and deadwood in Bentley, Jenas and Dos Santos to deal with as usual.....plus what to do with Gallas and Khumalo.

Need to consider the goalkeeper situation, but maybe David Button in as no 3 goalkeeper to replace Gomes and defer decisions to next season when we may need to replace both Freidel and Cudicini. But Gomes sale may fund the purchase of another goalkeeper anyway

3 quality players in - plus start bringing youth through the system to provide rotation, especially against the lower Premiership sides

Rossi was injured again (last week I think) - out for another 6 months

I am struggling to even name half a dozen players I feel we need. I think it's pointless given our recent transfer windows! Who can honestly see us addressing all our problems?
New keeper, centre half, full back, couple of midfielders and also 2 new forwards!

I hope we get back to buying young exciting prospects. The stop gap, short sighted approach under Redknapp ( which Pompey and west ham fans warned us about ) has to end when he goes.

People who think there is going to be a massive overhaul are going to be very disappointed, we struggled to get two players in the last transfer window and one only cost 5 million and the other was a loan, so imagine what kind of haggling will be done with players who cost much more.

What we can't replace, give opportunities to those who have played in the Next gen competition and been doing spurs proud there. The first team players can just **** off, bunch of lazy money grabbing whores. At least we will have players with a bit of spirit giving it their all, especially if they have a renowned Manager to guide them and develop them.

Thanks Spursidol, I stole your list (y)

The rest I couldn't really give two shits about.

Anyone saying we should sell Walker is crazy. He's 21, and this is his first full season in the PL. I'd say as a whole he's been pretty good. Yes, he needs to be coached defensively, but unless we're going to get well over £20m for him, I'd keep him. Selling Lennon would be silly too. Quality, quality player. Huddlestone... we've missed him dearly this season. Someone in the midfield who can just get the ball down and play football. If Modric hadn't been so shit in the last 2 or 3 months, I wouldn't be that bothered, but apart from VDV how many ball playing midfielders do we actually have? I'd love to see Hudd playing along-side Parker next season.

Need a new manager (and DoF) first.

Our strongest 11 (BF KW-YK-WG-BAE SP-LM AL-vdV-GB AE) plus Sandro are excellent, but we're paper thin beneath that. We need two #9, a RF, a CB and a GK this summer, plus replacements for whichever of Modric, Bale and vdV leave for a big club.
