Where did you see this? He came through Hull's academy and was born in England so shouldn't be an issue?

You spelt “awful” wrong.
dont know how to link. From Man Utd’s webpage announcing their European squad. They don’t explicitly say he’s foreign, but they list all their club or association trained players and he isn’t on that list. So it’s either a typo on their official page or there’s some weird quirk.

Just reflecting on the game last night and Ings had a quiet first half but much better in the second half and for his goal he was standing on the penalty spot with nobody within three yards of him.
Joe Rodon was marking him in the first half but wasn't playing in the second, coincidence? Personally I don't think so.
