Well you need to know the paces of all 11 players in the race to find the arithmetic mean.
Chris Perry, Mauricio Tarrico, Paolo Tremezanni, Ben Thatcher, Alton Thelwell, Alan Hutton, Goran Bunjevcevic, Vlad Chiriches, Colin Calderwood, Vedran Corluka and Garry (Ginger Pele) Doherty.

No idea where this 'lack of pace' nonsense eminates from, hes quicker than both Toby and Jan were at their peak when they formed the best centre back pairing in the division.

Also, he's plenty good on the ball, he just so happens to be a mean fucker too. the two aren't mutually exclusive.

Also, to the nutter who said Ledley didn't exactly have pace... you what? The guy ran like a gazelle.

Castles is considered incredibly reliable for anything involving Mourinho, no? Toby going the other way would certainly add an interesting wrinkle to this transfer.
Would make perfect sense as we are not increasing the HG quota, we are essentially swapping a class CB on the way down for one potentially hitting prime years.

Means we can sign a non HG striker and only need to sell 2 non HG players rather than 3.

Italy is also an excellent landing place for aging players, and Toby has thrived in back-three systems in the past. Seems like it would work for everyone involved.

We played Watford twice last year, scoring once across both fixtures. Nobody’s making a casing-point for signing Craig Cathcart.

The sample size has got to be bigger then two games!

Well my point is he's one of the most coveted players in europe and among the games where he's garnered that reputation we were able to see him up close that he can do the business.

We know that there are going to be have to be some outgoings to facilitate all these moves. Maybe there's going to be some we didn't expect. Toby is better than Dier, but Jose loves Dier. Toby is probably expendable if Skriniar is coming in though. Looking at our best 11 players, it leaves less work for next summer. Could be our greatest ever window.

I don’t want to lose Toby (both him and Jan in the same window would be really weird), but I think he would be amazing in Italy.

Agree 100%. This goes from sounding like a good deal to an ‘excellent’ deal if we can replace an ageing Toby who’s powers are on the wane.

Losing Toby would be the end of an era for one of our best CD pairing ( Verts + Toby).

JM really is ruthless and does not fuck around when making changes, no room for sentiment and that’s a winners mentality.

Dragon1 commenting on Romano's reports

'this matches my info , we have serious interest but we have not offered yet and we have made clear we will not meet their number , I disagree with him with Dias , we love him but Benfica are saying no go at the moment , there is also the issue of the prem defender where we really believe we can get a deal done and Jose likes a lot '
Im sorry but all this talk about Diop being the likeliest has, to me at least, been made to look like complete bullshit. No shot in hell we’d send Hitchen to Milan, in the middle of a fucking pandemic, if Diop, or any other defender for that matter, was the guy. I think we could get this done soon now.
