Thanks Trix (and Herc)

You'd like to think that (i) JM has taken a long hard look at what we need before taking the Spurs job and (ii) told Levy who these players are

For Levy then not to back him and get his targets would be mental...especially since our beloved leader is paying JM 15m quid a year (or whatever)

I've said before that the cynical side of me thinks that what appealed most to Levy was Jose insistence that we had a great squad that didn't need much. Sounded like ITK a couple of weeks ago was that Jose wanted to see what he had but now I'm getting the feeling the christmas period told him all he needed to know. Absolutely no point in getting a manager of Jose calibre if you don't give him the tools he needs, we saw as much at United as their board fucked him about.

Perhaps Vertonghen may be used as a makeweight in any deal, saving us money on the transfer fee and providing Napoli with an immediate replacement?

If we take the price of Vertonghen, CCV and KWP off the transfer fee, perhaps the deal starts looking a bit more realistic for us. Vertonghen’s wages helps cover a lot of Koulibaly’s as well.

As much as we have cause for caution here, I’m pretty sure we were this pessimistic during the summer when we were initially linked to Ndombele, Lo Celso and Sessegnon. We ended up with all three and we broke our transfer record.

We even went as far as to bid for Dybala, which goes to show Levy knows what he needs to do and I’m pretty confident Mourinho will be backed, he wouldn’t have signed with us without these assurances.

KK has publicly stated his unhappiness with the racism he faces in Italy, and the Napoli presidents lack of action against these issues. It’s rumored to be one of the reasons the relationship with Ancelotti broke down. We have a bit of leverage here. 3 and a half years left on his contract which isn’t too bad either.

It’s one to watch, and would be a serious statement signing even if we do have more pressing issues.

I initially thought vertonghen maybe used to sweeten the deal, the only pressing matter though is wouldn't koulibally be cup tied for the champions league?

I know some people want to see Levy’s face covered in jam and marmite and left out in the sun for insects to devour...but we do need to give the club a chance.

The speed at which we do business we might as well come back at the end of the month.

Take some time to relax.

So now we’ve been linked by ITK to:

CB: Koulibaly, Varane and Dias
RB: Ferguson and Atal
AM: Eze
FW: Bale and Bowen

Bizarre that no DM has been confirmed...

Agreed. Although no ITK has confirmed any DMs, there have been tons of rumors about Soumare from Lille (Sacramento link) and lower tier links to Florentino Luis from Benfica. FL would be incredible and exactly what we need in the middle of the pitch. All the data/stats experts seem to unanimously rave about this guy. Though, probably just a pipe dream and we'll end up with Matic :(

Link to FL for anyone interested: www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6Vv363e9vM&t=267s

Do not believe when JM says he doesn’t want any players etc, and will find options within! He has made it extremely plain to the hierarchy what he wants this window. Latest ITK via dova et el, is on the money. I am like the pessimist on here, who has heard it all before.

Didn't you say the opposite just a few days ago?

I agree completely. I had mixed feelings regarding JM incoming for exactly these reasons. If Levy has appointed him to coach through the youth he's an idiot, as that's not what he does. The general feeling is he'll be backed. Levy has wanted Jose for years, so he must be aware of his mo and adjust his transfer strategy accordingly.

Only time will tell though.

If it does go tits up can we just get rid of Levy.

I'm not sure how anyone can defend him if it does.

I've been banging that drum for a little while now. He's in more demand than Soumare and will cost significantly more I'd wager.

I am aware of my comments post and prior the latest. A lot of dynamics has changed within the squad and changes a lot of things. I do not want to disclose what they are, but they are obvious ones, ie H. There are major issues defensively, which has not gone the way JM expected.

I think it’s become more and more obvious over the last five games how poor we are. I’d imagine Mourinho’s sense of urgency has magnified significantly over the last month, hence the shift in the transfer market

Hiya, long term lurker, first time commenter. Thought it was about time I bit the bullet and registered. There is something/someone on here I've been incredibly confused by for a long time, almost feels like a parody, but I'll keep that to myself as I see what happens when you don't comply lol. Anyway hopefully it'll be a pleasure for us all. Thanks for welcoming me, if you do ?

HK? is it me or is that a worry? That’s a general question, sorry Hercules, not aimed at you, that’s not fair/allowed, I understand that.....!
