Chelsea have been cheating for the past 18 years? What a shock.
The thing is a change in ownership MIGHT make this whole thing irrelevant. You'd be penalising the new owner for something the predecessor did. I can't see other owners agreeing with this situation as it could affect them AND their selling price. There needs to be a statute of limitations.
That said, I hope they are given the harshest opissble punishment
Have City faced any sanctions yet? This will get lawyers paid handsomely, government officials will have discussions behind the scenes, and then enough time will pass by that they hope people will be focused on other matters and forget all about it.Chelsea FC face new questions over how Roman Abramovich funded success

No one here is going to be surprised at this. Question is: What does the Premier League do about it?

The premier league may want to look strong, but there’s legal precedent for Chelsea not being punished. We were punished for things Scholar did when he owned us in the 90s, Sugar successfully got it thrown out because it was punishing him and not Scholar.I’m not so sure that they will escape punishment, with an independent regulator coming in soon, the Premier League can’t afford to be seen as weak.
Well that would be typical of us that one of our greatest rivals are on the line for a points deduction but are saved by the legal precedent set in our own case thirty bloody years ago. You know what'll happen. They'll get a 10 point deduction, finish 9 points behind us, appeal it and get them reinstated, knocking us out of the final Champions League place in the process. The premier league may want to look strong, but there’s legal precedent for Chelsea not being punished. They're all involved with Raynes Park Vale, near me, who have a lot of affiliations with Chelsea. I just can't see Spurs ever being a consideration for him.As a side note I was at a kids' academy game chatting to one of the dads who knows the Gallagher family very well. He said Connor G's dad told him that being a lifelong CFC supporter Connor would never join Tottenham under any circumstances. I suggested that would probably be a different story if his club were actively kicking him out the door, and Spurs wouldn't have pursued it without some encouragement. But he said the entire family are 'proper Chels' and it would never happen.
I’m only guessing, but the premier league are still responsible for enforcing their rules, which also means they owe a duty of care to the other clubs in the league. Why not? Weak or Strong, the regulator is coming.

I actually disagree. The thing is a change in ownership MIGHT make this whole thing irrelevant. You'd be penalising the new owner for something the predecessor did. Matt Syed tried to his best.Let's remember we finished second to them during one of these seasons.
Them and man city have destroyed the fairness of the PL over the last two decades.
Shame Chelsea werent properly investigated while Abrahmovich owned the club. I suspect because journalists were too scared to and probably within reason.
