Absolutely spot on, but its made out like this is a one off. We've been sacrificing cup comps for 10/15 plus years now.

And if Poch returns, some of our fans will turn a blind eye and forget again. Wont see Levy or ENIC out for a while.
Placing priority on league finishes over domestic cups has clearly been ENIC's strategy for a long time. It's no coincidence that every manager has played significantly weakened sides even in the late rounds of cup competitions that are there to be won.

To a certain extent, it has been effective. We've qualified for European competition in 17 out of the last 18 seasons, bringing in loads of money to the club both directly (from prize money and matchday revenue) and indirectly (by raising the profile of the club, leading to exploding commercial revenues). That, combined with the stadium, has made us one of the biggest clubs in the world from a financial perspective.

But the situation is very different now than it was when ENIC came in. Levy deserves tremendous credit for growing the club to a point where it is now feasible to compete with the big spenders, but we have arrived as one of the financial heavyweights of world football.

The constraints we operated under in the past should no longer apply. There's no longer any excuse justifying a failure to compete on multiple fronts. Levy's refusal to ever properly back his manager reeks of contentment to be a nearly club, bringing in the money while never kicking on. That's not the vision that the stadium project (and the attendant highest ticket prices in England) was supposed to represent.

He sacked a manager 7 days before a cup final because he wanted him to play a full strength team 3 days before as top4 was mathematically possible.

I think thats enough proof.
Do you really believe this lol? I think this rumour wasn't even created by any real source but Mourinho fans on twitter :ROFLMAO: Hojbjerg played 90 minutes in every PL game before, Son wasn't getting any real rest too. Kane was injured too. He was never resting them.

He sacked a manager 7 days before a cup final because we were in bad form, he lost dressing room and we couldn't beat any top10 team in his last 5 months

I certainly believe it. You dont sack a cup winning machine for a 29 year old with no experience. If he sacked Mourinho after the final fair enough.
I think you are pro levy and you disagree with a lot of anti levy stuff but come on, how can sacking him because of form be justified at that moment in time for Mason?

I remember checking the odds for this in the past, and bar 2 or 3 finals he was the favorite in that game. It would be the first time in his career when he would be playing final as a massive, massive underdog. So I'm not really sure his cup winning machine would really work.

My bad, in his last 5 months we beat one team from top 10 - it was Leeds. Last game against City we lost 3-0 and we were absolutely awful. Our only win in his last month came against Aston Villa without Grealish. We were knocked from Europa League by Dinamo without manager. I'm pretty sure 22 shots and 3.4 xG is Newcastle best record in last few years even after Howe joined them plus they were without Callum Wilson. So yeah, I think that's enough for his sacking to be justified.

Don't forget this thread gents and ladies.

Thanks for the stadium (I think).

Its time to sell up and let this famous club breathe new energy.

You being here is harming it and sucking the soul out.

Leave!!!

We've now whimpered out of 3 competitions this season. And he still does the same thing over and over with different managers.

Time to go for Levy. Probably time to go for Conte, and definitely time to go for a bucket load of these players.

The athletic journo's believe this was the motive behind the sacking

Saturday needs to be alot aimed towards enic/levy. The sucker will hire poch before then to get the ‘feel good’ factor back and the heat off him.

Need to dial up the heat to No 11 on Saturday. Do not allow him to get off the hook an a emotional Poch return.

He has to get the message that enough is enough

Blame Levy all you like but Conte had enough resources to win that game and two out of three in the last seven days. So dont go bleating on about Levy when we cant muster a goal in three games in the past week.

Another season written off by the money men, always next year and what random way ENIC go this summer to cover their tracks…

Rotten to the core, core being the top, been saying for 10 years we’re winning nothing under this lot. The main defense of them was wait to the stadium, still making the same basic mistakes, still going nowhere because fundamentally to them it is not about winning, we need owners that at least set the objective to win…
