Philosophically, I think at any club the answer to "multiple injuries at the same position" ought to be "take a risk and play a promising youngster".

And I don't think that's fantasism either. Highly successful clubs often don't have *huge* squad depth, they just have very little quality drop off as you go down the list, and players who cover across positions.

Onions I guess.

An injury to Dier or god forbid an injury to a couple of starting CBs.....
You could say that about any team tho.... say pool lose van dijk and konate they are down to bare bones with gomes and matip then youngsters or players out of position filling in... Doherty has played CH for Ireland so could be emergency cover... you can only plan for limited eventualities. A perfect storm of injuries in one position could kill any teams ability to cover injuries. Kane got his chance because of soldado and adebayor injuries if I remember correctly.. (that or they were both playing crap I can't remember!)

Nearly already forgot we have sent him on loan. According to transfermarket he played the first two games and was benched the third. Anyone knows why?

Maybe just rotation due to his limited match minutes in recent years? Played the full 90 in both so not like he was hauled off in the match leading up to this one.

89th minute red card by a defender with a 3-0 lead smells like he'd just had enough of someone. Might not be the case but it's the kind of thing that your teammates appreciate.

I couldn't find a clip, but it sounded like he slipped or fell and took out a player.
