Would be surprised to see Emerson at RWB, given our lack of creativity as it is, in this formation.

Yeah I'd be very surprised if it was the same 11 as Sunday.

He's quite good for team selections but he did say in the comments it was just a guess he's received no info.

Here's a thought.

We've been discussing "lack of creativity" and the inability of our midfielders to set tempo, retain the ball and create good chances for a few weeks now, during which time our record has been W4, D1, L4.

Prior to that, our record was W5, D2, L0.

What happened between those two runs of matches? In the more recent run of matches, Kulusevski has started one match and that was the 6-2 win against Leicester. Prior to that, he was a regular name in the starting eleven.

His arrival in January also coincided with the start of our long run to the top 4 last season. We know he fancies himself as a no. 10, rather than a winger. I'm going to propose that he's been playing in the style of a no. 10 and doing the job of a no. 10, but a bit wider, and that we already have our creative player, except that he's been injured. We're not getting his lethal crosses, we're not getting his forays into the box, we're not getting his strong ball retention in the final third and, most importantly, we're not getting his assists and goals.

That's not a suggestion that we should stay out of the market for another creative player this coming January, but it is a simple and compelling explanation for why we showed coordinated link-up play earlier in the season and now we don't.

Kulusevski has been a key to our style of play - more so than people think and more so than the slowly-improving wingbacks - and he was covering up deficiencies in our midfield that the vaunted introduction of a 3-5-2 formation has done nothing to correct.

We need him back, fit.

I'd like to see (assuming Romero, Højbjerg, Kulusevski and Richarlison are all injured)

Lloris

Dier Lenglet Davies
Doherty Skipp Bissouma Bentancur Perisic
Kane Son

I'd love to give this one a miss but I'll probably end up watching it. That's how bad Spurs gets under your skin. In general our European performances have been even more tedious than our domestic ones and they've been about as riveting as sitting in the dentists waiting room.

Really? Thought the Frankfurt match last time out was most I have been entertained by Spurs in a while, probably all season (except maybe Southampton match)

By default, even if unintended, you have put forward a very good case for going back into the market as a priority to get a player who is capable of giving us as much creativity, as we surely cannot rely on only one creative outlet that disappears when Kulu is out injured. It leaves too much to chance.

Win and we're through. You can then give the next one a miss :D
