Really weird game. Chelsea i thought were great in the first half. We just couldn’t get going and they over ran us.

Richy coming on changed it for us and I thought on the basis of the second half performance we deserved something, if overall they desevered to win. Our aggression caused them problems.

I think it is a massive result for us. Players would have taken a lot of belief from that; we’ve notched a mental win there. I’m think we probably still a bit of Liverpool, City and Chelsea. But with Conte and the added strength in depth who knows.

To be honest I think the game as come to early in the season to see where we really at. I think it probably take a few games for us to get properly going and there are just some teams you stuggle against. Chelsea just seem to struggle against Arsenal and routinely drop points against them, doesn’t make them a bad side. Performance wasn’t there today but that is nothing new to successful sides.

We need to accept that Chelsea were outstanding for a large part of that game, have not played that well for some time and I very much suspect they won't do again too soon. It's hard to praise them but they really do deserve all the praise we can give them they were playing at their best.
Here's the rub, despite that at their ground they could not get the better of us, they couldn't beat us, we really are that hard to beat, that good.

Exactly. How come the same players are capable of winning home and away against a much better MC team but v chelscam forget how to play football?
Because the City manager is so arrogant he plays to our strengths and thinks his team will prevail through more skill and better players, whereas Tuchel sets up Chelsea to play on our weakness and has given the rest of the league the blueprint in how to play against us. Arteta is just as arrogant fortunately too and Klopp.

I agree, but so far it’s only Tuchel who has had Conte’s number. I was ecstatic he changed things up and noted how their 343/4222 hybrid completely nullifies us. I feel extremely strongly the game up until Richarlison came on was a representation of the manager as opposed to the players, and trust me I almost always feel the opposite and I adore Conte. The back 4 and central overload was necessary and he found the right switch even though it came a bit later than I liked. From then on the match was quite even imo. From then it was James’ pure quality and Perisic’s pure quality that took over.
I think people are overplaying the tactics here. We were right to go to a 4 as we were behind and playing terribly, but it also left us so open, we easily could have conceded another 2. I think the problem in first half was lack of quality on the day.

To be honest I didn't think tactically anything worked really today. Even the change to 4-4-2/4-2-2-2/4-2-4 or whatever you'd want to call it barely did anything to get us to 1-1. The only noticeable difference was Richarlison wasn't as pathetic as the other three and actually managed to hold the ball up a bit and at least ran some channels a few times. When Chelsea then had to step on it again after the first equaliser we were immediately once again all over the place.

They didn't have that many chances, a common theme actually in a lot of Chelsea games, and lacked the killer instinct to go and bury us and took their foot off the gas a couple of times... but make no mistake about it we got absolutely pumped in general play, good and proper. Tuchel has our/Conte's tactical number it looks like.... But it is indeed a funny old game, we hung on by a fingertip, and somehow burgled, hilariously, a point out of it.

Good result but I was really disappointed by the performance overall. I really thought we could take it to them more. A point is good especially given the way the game went but we still have a ways to go.

Pretty sure he isn’t. I know he was with us for a little while and then went to Liverpool. Great player. I just don’t like him as a pundit.
He is, always says he has a soft spot for and sees us as his second team or along those lines

442 made a massive difference to the momentum of the game. When azpi came on and he went back to 343 that was also very good. Over all Conte did really well to keep us in that and then get the draw. Top drawer manager.

This is the thing you get with a bunch of mercenaries like Chavs. They were bang up for this. Next week against Leeds they probably won't be and will put in a performance like against Everton

Agree. But how many times have we played them off the park and lost or not got what we deserved in recent years

Richi should have come one arlier. He was the only one who could hold on the ball. Wemissed that and it was main issue today imo. All other issues comes after/becauseof that.

What should he have said about a mens football game?
I don't recall the netball commentators referring to it as a women's game? It adds literally nothing to my understanding of what was going on on the pitch and for another thing is demonstrably incorrect. He's a pundit, hes's supposed to add something insightful about the game, not inform us about about gender of the players playing.

Going forward against Chelsea I think we need to go 352 tbh ! Match them up in the middle out a man in Jorginho. Hope it’s what we do at home ! Saying that great point now let’s get perisic starting and Bissouma very soon

Fuck you make it sound like day light robbery ffs.

We got a point and didn't play great at a ground we've a terrible record.

But let's have it right....they didn't battter us.

I think as usual we created our bloody problems in this fixture, Sonny tried be too greedy in the early minutes I think he could have made the pass and I think we would have scored I forget if it was Kane or Kulu first time.
We got in again soon after and didn't make the most of those early chances and then it was pretty much all chavs, I think it was Emerson sleeping on their first goal. We need to be taking those early chances.

We also seemed to forget it was a derby until the 2nd half; I'm glad we got out with a point but I'm disappointed we didn't get 3 (I know right, coming away from those pricks with a result we didn't deserve and being disappointed!)

I know Conte doesn't like messing with a known XI and I know it takes time to understand his patterns etc (I forget how many games when he first came in before it looked cohesive) but I hope he starts some of these signings soon, take midfield today; his goal aside I thought Højbjerg was poor, we're also too predictable IMHO.

Anyhooo fuck chavski!

That'll be their best performance of the season but we came away from their place with a point Cucu's wig and Tuchel's self-respect. Win ?
