Getting him firing could be the difference from an average season and a special one. Love him or hate him, when he’s operating at full capacity, he’s the best midfielder in the squad on the ball by a mile and is one of the best ball progressors in the world in his position, which is the huge hole we have right now. If Nuno or he himself or any other outside factors can get him going, it would be the biggest influence on our success this season. Not for one second defending his attitude or supposed lack of hard work. He needs to earn it, and it’s really frustrating because he is really that important when at his best.
Couldn’t agree more. It is worth considering how to build a team around him. Something that helps focus on his strengths and minimizes his weaknesses. Something akin to 4312 could be interesting. With Tanguy behind two strikers. We are desperate for a playmaker. Gotta at least give him a chance. Likewise, Lo Celso needs to get with the program, as he should be starting every game. But that won’t happen if he keeps getting injured, missing preseasons or pulling the shit he did last week. Time for him to pay back the investment the club has made in him too.

Doesn’t matter how good a natural footballer you are, hard work always beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard and sadly this prick doesn’t have the work hard gene in him he was born with so much natural talent he’s been able to coast through life, getting the move to Spurs has ended up with him having silly wages and no motivation.

players like him are 10 a penny over the years we’ve had

Ben Arfa
Sofiane Boufal
Taarabt
Robinho
Denilson
Bentley
Bojan
Anderson
Morrison
Adriano
Pato
Ballotelli

the problem is flair players in their own right are enigmas they always have been over the years they have that obtrusive attitude see Cantona etc they know they are unbelievably good from a young age this results in them never really trying so much because everything comes so easy and natural they then end up getting caught out when the players who weren’t as naturally talent start out working them.

Theres a reason why players we produce from our youth team

e.g Carroll,O’Hara,Winks,Tanganga all end up getting their chance over the flair players like edwards, bostock, roles, oduwa’s it’s simply because you don’t have to carry them as they always train and play at 100% despite that lack of sheer natural talent.

Sometimes players can be to good for their own good, he’s one of them he’s so good he thinks he can just do what he wants but in the premier league you don’t get away with it.

you have to be 8/10 on everything you can’t be

10/10 dribbling
10/10 Talent
10/10 Shooting then 6/10 fitness as that little drop off just means you won’t ever quite be good enough!

if he ends up in Spain,Italy,France he will always look a world beater but not in this country will he ever be one unless his attitude drastically changes.

it may even be the case of his body just doesn’t hold the stamina levels or natural fitness levels to ever be at a level good enough for the premier league consistently.
A very good post. Add Kane to the list of players that made it - wasn’t the greatest technically in the youth set up but worked hard at every weakness until it wasn’t, add the mental strength he has and now he’s one of the best in the world. Tarrabt and Tungay have everything talent wise but it’s not the 1970s when every team had 9 outfield workers and one maverick.

The guys has a skillset that none of our squad and many other teams in the league don't have. He is with us until at least January. I think it is imperative that even if in the short term, if his mind is on the game, we don't use it and make the most of him. It is amongst the most frustrating signings I can remember if not the most frustrating. I just hope we can see some real positives from him. Tomorrow and against Chelsea and Woolwich will do nicely.

Most of the players you said as example by every move they have made they were going to worse clubs/were playing much less and/or worse.

Since supposed Ndombele bad mentality/laziness/not working hard he went 4th or 5th tier in France->2nd tier in France->Lyon->Tottenham for 60m, which is pretty much the opposite of the previous examples? And if he leaves Spurs he won't be going for a worse clubs.

Ndombele probably knows he's set for life now, regardless of what happens. He could genuinely sit on his contract and not bust a gut to try and force his way into the team and just go through the motions.

He maybe doesn't have that same hunger as he did when he was coming through the ranks in France.

Seems like all of the pics from this season show him to be fit, suggesting the issue was more mental - he did not want to be here. Thus, once he gets past that hurdle - he should be good to go.

I'd put him and Kane out there together, and they can commiserate with each other over being forced to play.

He needs games and lots of them. He's never going to get up to top gear and full fitness unless he plays regularly, maybe even twice a week some weeks.

Starting from tomorrow , he should be starting and playing 70+ mins

We are so shit in CM, there really is no other option. It's that simple

Could we see Ndombele play like this for 90mins? Please. https://www.instagram.com/p/B_fscOMIt-B/ combine with Gil managing to live up to potential the midfield starts have some creative spark well needed. Would take pressure of PEH too and defence. Could be world class. Let's hope....

If he doesn’t buck his ideas up and his performances improve dramatically he won’t be going to a better club. The premier league is very high profile and loads of clubs will have taken note of how woeful he has been here. He wants to go and we are looking at a big loss in value.

Ive seen Mason play since he was 16, Ive literally seen this kid grow despite being only a couple years younger than me

However he was pathetic as caretaker, he was worse than Sherwood

Sherwood, gave players a chance and they went on to be huge for us.

Mason on the other hand, dropped our most promising CB for his former teammate despite Rodon earning that chance under Mourinho
Dropped Ndombele after one poor match despite stats showing he still did a lot of good stuff for us
Didn't give one player from the academy a minute off the bench

At least with Sherwood he was brave and dropped Soldado for Kane
Mason had a handful of games and didn’t pick a player with a bad attitude? Doesn’t sound like a bad choice if you want to make the best of your short time in charge.

The frustration is immense when I see this, because he should be one of the first names on our teamsheet. But between his work rate and our managers it's just been a disaster. One that we cannot afford.

If we are to progress Football wise then Nuno has to find the bravery and way to integrate Ndombele, GLC and Gil. A midfield of Skipp, Dele and PEH is not Going to produce quality football consistently and feels like a mid table midfield. PEH with GLC and Ndombele has a real footballing sense about it, with Gil combining with Son and Kane. Juno just has to find GLC, motivate Ndombele, and more importantly find the will within himself to be brave.

What a team that could be:

Lloris
Royal sanchez Romero reguilon
Hojbjerg
Ndombele LoCelso
Gil Kane Son
