Quite happy the game has been called off. In addition to player/staff safety (priority) we’re a) in poor form and b) have a number of injured, missing? and fatigued key players.

The rest ‘should’ do us good.

Son and Kane can do with the "rest". They both looked exhausted during the Wolves game and with Lucas, Bale and Vinicius out for who knows how long, this might help us for our run of fixtures this month. Pretty much nailed on that Kane and Son will play against Brentford in the cup and would have likely played today and Saturday against Leeds. Accumulated fatigue, short recovery period, having to defend as a unit for 90 mins, all make for a nice little recipe for muscular injuries. This postponement might have given us a slight reprieve from that.

Short term yes, long term it's a disaster.

Unless UEFA move the Euros again (extremely unlikely) then I've been convinced all along that this season will end up being decided on PPG. There simply isn't space for all the rearranged fixtures that you can guarantee there will be more of in the coming months.

It was frankly astonishing that we got to mid-December before a PL game was postponed.

You’re probably right. The cut off point for abandoning the season is the half way point I think, which we are coming up too (19 games). After that it is decided on a PPG although I could be wrong. They decided on the rules before the season started. Our bad run is presumably bad timing for that

Was this called off because

a). Fulham didn’t have enough fit players due to a COVID outbreak

or

b) they were concerned that the players and staff who had not had a confirmed positive test may be positive regardless and would therefore pass virus on to others?

The statement from the pl said more players (probably staff too) were showing symptoms today.

Of course there are two weeks of international games at end of March. Where we play San Marino, Albania and Poland.

If the league wants to start postponing games then this season is one time when silly internationals like England vs San Marino needs to be scrapped (even if it is a qualifier) to make space for rearranged fixtures

Safety is an issue, but I thought it is severely unfair to us, if Fulham can still field a starting XI and at least 5 subs.

I don't understand how Everton weren't awarded the 3 points from City and I don't understand why we've not been. I thought the rules were clear?

Can we relive a classic match and thread at 6pm? Anyone got access to full match highlights of some great games?

No idea if what's being written here (it's the Daily Mail, after all) has been stated in an official capacity by the Premier League, but this didn't last long

Was that league rules? I know in Europe last season when they started back up that was the rules if steam couldn't play the game they forfeited the game.

Maybe they'll award the points later in the season if it is proven that the postponed match can in fact not go ahead, or if there are so many postponed matches that they have to add more weeks to the season at the end of it?

Njah, not really. The rules of continental club football is that a match can be postponed, and if it after postponment is proven that it will be impossible to play, only then will points be awarded without playing the match.

The guidance was that if you can field 14 players including any kids who've played a single minute of 1st team football then the game goes ahead.

The above is the criteria for what would constitute an ability to field a team. If you fail to field a team when capable then the normal rules like happened to Boro/Blackburn years ago would be applied (points awarded to other team, point deduction, etc).
