So weird seeing that name on here, my Mrs works at the Lion Quays!
Really?! The same one near Oswestry? I worked there for around 8 years from the age of 16-24 whilst at college and University studying to become a teacher.

No idea if the Welsh U21's still use it as a base occasionally but will hopefully find out soon off the guy I mentioned.

Yeah that's the one! She's never mentioned much to me about the U21's but harped on for hours about having Katie Price there over the weekend...

I think they used to use it as a base when there were plenty of friendlies over in Wrexham, not sure if that's the case anymore.

It would be a decent, and very opportunist, bit of business in my opinion.
Bring him in whilst we phase out Toby and then see if we still need a senior CB like Skriniar as well in Jan/the summer.

Cheers. This paragraph a bit of a worry:

"Those injuries have maybe set him back three or four years and he's missed out on a lot of football but I see a rapid movement forward for him. If he can stay fit, over the next couple of seasons we're really going to see him move forward. All the raw materials are there."

Read the previous page, nothing to worry about it seems.

I'm a bit "meh" over this. Rather Japhet get more time and save the money for a possible Skiniar esq quality addition. Seems buying for buyings sake

Bit of a myth. Had 2 bad ankle injuries (caused by tackles), where he missed 10-15 games, both times. Apart from that I don't think its a major issue

In the limited number of Swansea matches I watched last season, I was more impressed by Ben Cabango than Rodon.

Any Swansea viewers / Welshmen care to offer their opinions on them? Guehi is also a baller but of course he’s Chelsea.

Rodon the better player, Cabango looks a real prospect but still young and only started making regular appearances at the end of last season when Rodon was injured.

Rodon is fantastic in the air and very comfortable with the ball. Makes a lot of sense as he can play in both a back 4 and back 3 comfortably. Was scouted a lot by City and United over the last 12 months.

I like the signing, don't expect him to displace anyone immediately but would not surprise me if he became a regular by the end of the season.

Two things that stand out for me. First is like Toby he stays on his feet and only goes to ground if he has to. Secondly he seems comfortable on the ball and happy to pass forwards. This is an area that I think DS is pretty poor in and puts pressure on our defence.
Sanchez passing isn't the best part of his game it is hit and miss however he is imo the best defender at the club. Surprisingly nobody seems to mention how good Sanchez is at bringing the ball from a low block into midfield with his runs.

Haven’t watched Swansea much admittedly but off of the YouTube clips he reminds me somewhat of a Welsh Jonny Evans.

i have seen Roden from swansea u23s into the first team. I have been a season ticket holder down there for 5 years (my son plays in the academy down there), so I can give a little bit of insight.
Joe is a Rolls Royce type of defender. Very commanding, but very technical. Isn't super quick but gets about well for a defender. Will put his head where is hurts and likes a tackle. Has always been talk about clubs watching him. It was a matter of time before one was going to come in. Always the assumption united would come in for him (the giggs/wales connection). Has had injuries as mentioned, was out a fair bit last season. One of swansea directors left yesterday and alot of board changes have happened lately. There was always rumours of an argument between copper the manager and the board over transfers this week, so all doesn't seem rosey. Birch would know all this and I'm sure he will know how much he will need to spend to take Joe. Joe is the golden boy at Swansea so it will be interesting to see how it pans out

I'm sure he would be a great player, but why loan out Foyth and bring in another player who can't play in Europe?

Is he any better than Foyth or Tanganga and is he going to be an upgrade?

I understand why we would be targeting Skriniar or Demiral, even Rudiger, but I don't get this one. I'd rather Tanganga gets more playing time and stay with what we have and then go in for Skriniar again in January.
I think Jose wants a real aerial presence in the squad which is not something I think we really have.

I don't think it's a case of this guy or Tanganga.

Foyth has left (albeit on loan but it looks unlikely he'll be back), and Toby is realistically potentially in his last season for us.

That leaves us with Dier, Sanchez, and Tanganga. Certainly room in the squad for two more CBs by the end of the season.

This looks like smart forward planning, to me.
