One of the exciting things with a player like Weghorst is his game isn’t structured solely on pace.

Look at Vardy or Aubameyang...so much of their game relies on pacing past the defender and whilst that’s all well and good, the minute their legs go they’re a lot less effective.

Weghorst’s game is built on intelligent movement and clinical finishing. Making those darting runs, only doing 5-10 yards of explosive movement.

For that reason, I have no issues with him being 28 as I still think he has 5 years at the top level.
On the similar note, Dost is a similar kind of striker, only maybe not quite as good...but if the rumour was of 5.5m, I think you could do much worse...in my opinion.

Sounds as though Wolfsburg are open to discussions regarding payment structures too, again, which can only be a good thing!

More I see, more I think this guy is the better option for us. Very decent goal return in a league comparative to ours, and whilst playing for a decent team but not one of the typical powerhouses who dominate and which would
slant his figures favourably.
At an age where he still has plenty to offer too.
Club seem open to a structured payment deal which Levy is going to want to do, allegedly.

Vardy is 33 and was top scorer last season, PEA is 31, and does he really look like he’s going to start slowing down anytime soon?

The obsession with age generally on this site is a bit weird. I blame Levy and his fixation on sell on value.

Age used to be an issue but ‘most’ top flight players are incredibly fit these days and follow plans to a T to keep them in optimum shape for as long as possible.

At the end of the day, much is made of youth and the implicit speed and healthiness (and sellon fee) that comes with it, but a 28 year old is hardly over the hill. He will have learned the game better and also be less susceptible to all the youthful indiscretions that trip up young millionaires these days. Maturity combined with the desire to do great things in a new league could be a powerful combination.

Interested to see where we land on the striker front. Belloti, Vinicius and Weghorst all offer something different and complementary to Kane. Exciting times.

Agree.

It's time I reckon.

Hopefully Wout is the man.
