Well if Levy is still pursuing this deal he must be prepared to get close to what it would take, as if it was deemed too obscene he surely would of ruled it out very quickly.

So if we're within the realms of a financial agreement that should be viewed as very positive. Otherwise why waste the time and energy trying to be creative, shopping at a shop you cant afford to be in.

It would be a huge statement and I'm pretty certain with Mourinho in charge Levy will feel more confident in pulling off a deal like this.
My opinion, and it is only opinion, is had the outgoings happened(TN+others) this would have been easier to counter balance wages wise.

I’m guessing the uncertainty with when fans can come back isn’t helping the situation either.
Thanks for the info Trix!!

Levy might take the risk and if it doesnt end well he might look into worst case scenario and cash in on Kane next summer to balance the books.

Yeah would definitely think so Trix.

I'd be surprised if it happened without at least freeing up wages of some of the others.

There’s no way Levy goes this far without a plan or trick up his sleeve. If the money is that silly, and it’s so typically beyond how he usually operates, then it’s possible he looks to change the terms of the deal a little down the road to make it more financially viable. I’m not even sure what I’m talking about because everything about this deal seems too fantastical for Levy that my brain hurts

I don't think from our pov it's going to get any better than it is now. Big decision.

Levy could still look to pursue the deal to find out what the cost is, but know that he can’t pull the trigger unless we have some outgoings.

With things going quiet on Aurier and Foyth it’s less likely. Really hope we can shift those we don’t want and soon.

Thanks Trix very clear summary and an unbelievable position to be in re GB. From zero to there for the the taking if you can take that last tisk.
Big decision for DL but to get this close ......

It could be the catalyst for so much more but a financial gamble in these times but to continue to raise the club profile for things like Amazon store along with Harry and Alex Wilson then he might just do it

Still need striker though

No agenda as yet. Although with the amount of money all 3 parties are potentially losing, I would not be surprised if a hurdle or two comes into play at the last minute. But as things stand it's a clear, but very expensive runway.
As you said before, it’s encouraging that Levybis driving this given that he will have known the financial implications from the start. If he pulls it off, amazing, but equally I think we all need to accept that there’s a lot of opportunities for this deal to go wrong.

Unless Loe Lewis is an utterly stone-hearted bastard, there must be the prospect of some sort of financial safety net if this all goes tits up?

Signing him would be a real coup for the BSoDL who would instantly regain the vast majority of the wobblers.

It'd be a massive PR disaster for those wanting to see the back of Gimli

Bale. Quite simple really(although not simple at all). Good news is that the deal is there to be done, and all 3 parties are happy for it to happen.

The problem is it's still an unprecedented amount of money for DL. As I've said recently Levy likes to balance the books in as many ways as he can, and with this it just isn't possible. This is a huge gamble financially in a time where money is at its most uncertain. On the plus side it's been Levy all the way driving this, and he must have known from the outset that is the case, and he's persued it anyway. That gives me hope he will pull the trigger.

It's now a case imo of heart or head, for DL. Can he justify the obscene expenditure in uncertain times, I mean he's not pushed the boat out when we've had spare cash, so will he do it now when we don't.

I think right now this could go either way and if we decide to do it, it will happen quickly.

I will say it's a deal just for us. Should we not do it, other clubs will not get the same terms(as things stand) so not as easy to get gazumped at this point in time.

JJ spot on all down to Levy, but knowing a lot of the financials I could totally understand if we don't get this over the line.
I suppose another important factor is what Bale do we get for our structure busting money after the two years he has had? That must be a concern to DL as it is unknown. It would have to be a fully motivated Bale with a point to prove to ZZ, RM and the world that he is still one of the best players in the world and he has been mistreated otherwise he could be a disaster financially and for squad harmony if he is phoning it in from the 1st tee.

Also, after the lack of football in a less physically demanding league, how will a 30 year old Bale hold up?

On the plus side he has fantastic technique and will not have lost that quality. He is also a lot more marketable than nearly all our players so I’d hope that could ease the finances.

Its a real shame its so quiet on the outgoing side.
I can not see Bale and a shiny striker coming in without someone leaving.
Where would that leave Lamela and co. in the plannings? We are not a big oil money club where things like that do not matter.
