Depressing news but if Jose isn't going to play him and he isn't going to pull his finger out then it would be best for all parties. Just gotta hope a club with serious £££ like PSG comes in for him so we can get our money back.

If we do lose him I really hope we push the boat out for someone like Sabitzer who both style and attitude-wise looks so much more suited to both the Prem and a Mourinho team. Then we can use whatever is left over to put towards a RB/backup striker.

TN in my mind was always going to be sold, and if the money is used to strengthen positions we're weak in, then i wouldn't grumble. Most fans only want players at there club that are committed, for whatever reason he isn't.

If N’Dombele is going (which I hope he stays) I’d rather we got a new CM. Jose better not think Winks is the answer otherwise we have no hope. Gutted we don’t get to see GLC , N’Dom and Hojbjerg - Kane would love having those two behind him

Then DL is very naive.

Noy only has Ndombele showed little, we're also in the middle of a pandemic leaving clubs skint.
He's not naive, he's just invested a lot into the player in terms of finances and time. Therefore you shouldnt be so quick to want to sell. You want to give that asset every opportunity to come good.

It sounds though that Levy has come to a point in which he's realised it's better to trust Jose's judgement. At the end of the day, if anyone can see a 'winner' in a player it's Mourinho.

Why do people want TN to stay? Mourinho will not even select him and his value will just deteriorate even further. Try and get a swap with Inter for Brozovic/Skriniar or straight cash and then go and get Sabitzer.

Sad how it's turned out but he just needs to go asap.

Says who?

Anyway, Give me a player who has less of his talent but 100% winning mentality than a guy who just goes through the motions and isn't prepared to put his body on the line.

I've been of the opinion of selling him for a while now, I believe if we can get the money in for him and sign Skriniar or Sabitzer or other players who are not as good with the ball but have more character then we need to 100% do it.

United didn't back Jose over Pogba because they believed he was too talented, dismissing players like Perisic and other big game players in the meantime.

If Jose doesn't see the mentality in him, let's be honest, he's probably right.

Selling him though is a completely different issue.

Agreed.

We can win a trophy with TN. We can also win without him. Just a matter of many factors coming together. If TN is not going to be part of the team, then best he be gone so the team can move on.

I wonder who did the research into Ndombele's character and concluded we should commit over £100m into signing him.

£65m fee, £200k a week for 6 years - £127.4M commitment. Nice work transfer committee. Or is this one 'On Poch'?

Though that’s true for quite a few, a lot of big clubs seem to be able to spend money despite what we are doing/saying.

Won’t shed any tears over him going. The talent is undoubted but he has little to no desire to use it. The frustration for me would come if the money recouped wasn’t put toward signing another top player. (Sabitzer for example)

Cheer Herc and Trix. It's a shame TN hasn't worked out, but no player at the very top in the world can coast anymore, doesn't matter how much talent he has. If he won't apply himself and won't put the work in to succeed, then it's time to go.

As we've heard all along, the press is close to our targets, so if he goes it could well be one of those midfielders we were tentatively linked to over the past couple of weeks (Brozovic and Sabitzer) are the plan to replace him. A player of that calibre coming back in would soften the blow and imo improve the squad.

Massive shame about Ndom if true. It’ll be a long time for DL spends that type of money on a player again I’d imagine.

The way I understood it, Poch wanted him so Levy backed him. Its easy to be wise after the event but everyone and his dog on this forum was pushing for this transfer last summer.

Jose has also sold some incredible players (Salah/KDB) but there were mitigating factors and we've had that conversation before on here plenty of times.

I think it's not so much about recognising 'winners' per se as Ndombele might mature into a world beater, but rather he knows what qualities he needs in a player to win right now. Off the top of my head I can't think of many players Jose has 'nurtured' into a squad over time. He tends to make his mind up fairly quickly and then the player is usually shipped out and replaced (unless they're Pogba-level players that can't be moved on for commercial reasons...and look how that worked out).

Totally agree. And Mourinho is here for the foreseeable, so Levy has to trust his judgement for the good of the team, and for their own working relationship I'd say as well.

Jesus, all the bleeding hearts for Ndombele!

I'm not shedding any tears for a player who let's be fair has shown such a lack of professionalism to his craft to even be match fit, let alone display half of what his talent seemingly suggests he's capable by so many fans who are still suckered in by a few fleeting performances at Lyon.

Anyone, anyone, who wants to leave can exit stage left thanks so if he doesn't have the desire to make a name for himself here and look for an easy way out at the first opportunity then cheerio because we certainly don't need that attitude here.

If moving him on enables us to secure a deal for the likes of Sabitzer then give me that all day, every day!

We will now sell TN!!’
If he doesn't want to be here then I really really hope we do as it will just cause disruption within the squad and negative media all season which won't help our cause at all. Big shame if it hasn't worked out for him but hopefully we can cut our losses and get close to the cash we paid for him to we can re-invest it in other areas. It seems from what Herc and other ITK's have recently been saying that RB and ST are next priorities and we have a small budget for those e.g. Aurier sale money will go on a new RB and other players sold will go towards the ST position and then anything else will be dependent on sales of other players of which Ndombele would be a big cash cow. Issue now is will anyone pay for him and if so can we get it sorted before the last day of the window otherwise we will have no time to spend the sale funds to replace him or further improve the balance of the squad.

Interesting next month or so ahead.

If you're an Ndombele fan you shouldn't get too downhearted about this.

He's got 4/5 years left on his deal and there is no chance Levy sells unless he's at least getting his money back. I can't see anyone paying up personally and if they do then that's a lot of money for us to spend on 1/2 quality replacements.

The likely scenario therefore is that he stays, and with the amount of games we have he'll definitely get opportunities to play. It will just be up to him whether he applies himself in these lower key matches to gain Mourinho's trust.
