It wont end well. Jose is going to expect some signings. Levy will be trying to figure out how he can sign no one again and still save face
The signings that Jose might get won't exactly be the ones he wants, we have been here before with managers having the rug pulled from under their feet this will be a soap opera of the highest level quality entertainment.

When was the last time he consistently played world class football?

Yeah, point taken (though we might have slightly different definitions of “consistently” and “world class” tbf)

I would say injuries and a change in system, management etc have played a big part in any lack of consistency, however.

Probably when our team consistently played world class football.

Watch his performances for England compared to us, it's like night and day - why do you think that is?
I don't watch every England game so I wouldn't know about his general level. What I can say is when playing for us even when we had disjointed performances back in the day he could still affect the game. Now he can pretty much be swallowed up by the game.

Even when we had disjointed performances back then we have never been this much of a mess, we are still very much in transition and the players are still adopting the manager's tactics. We're just gonna have to wait until we start to adapt as a team and improve as a team to get the best out of our players.

The ironic thing is that his own movement/awareness has gotten worse, everything can't be blamed on those around him.

Which goes back to what I was saying about his mobility and pace. There are a lot of successful strikers who aren't quick and who don't charge around all the time.

If we get a big offer we must sell. It's becoming clearer and clearer by the day that all those injuries have taken their toll.

What makes you think we'd improve if we sold him and bought a couple of new players with the money we'd get? We don't exactly have a great record in signing twenty goal a season strikers and how many of our summer signings have been a success so far?

Totally understand people thinking £150 million sounds nice to re build the squad, however we need to be realistic here. If Kane were to go he would be going to a team in our league, so we are strengthening a direct rival whilst selling our best player.

For me I think we will see Kane develop his game moving forward. I think in certain games he will be a finisher and put teams to the sword. However in bigger games his role will change he will be the link to our quicker players (Son, Bergwijn etc).

No need to judge him on the game from Friday, he was poor but hasn't played for so long I can forgive him. Having Alli or Lucas available to sub him would have helped.

Let's give him the rest of the season to gain fitness and form, let's remember we have a huge amount of talent in the squad that have played minimal minutes together. Think as long as we get an option in to take the pressure off Kane and stop him being run into the ground, we will see him back to a great level next season.

I know he’s been injured and, more importantly, we’ve been awful (especially going forward) but I’ve been underwhelmed for so long

Not sure what the answer is

Hopefully he and we turn it around, but I just don’t see it under Jose

Not sure how this is even a debate. If we were playing to his strengths and not asking him to defend his 18 yrd box as if he is Claude Makelele then im sure he would look and feel much more dangerous. At this rate he wont get many goals with us because we arent creating to the point where he is getting and will get opportunities.

He will get to a point where he is frustrated

To be fair a lot of what Merson said is hard to argue with.
I don't think many players enjoy playing this style of sitting deep, anti posession park the bus counter attacking football as you barely touch the ball and for many players that takes the enjoyment out of the game, sure if its super successful like jose in the past and simione at athletico then players will buy into it but its risky because its far easier for players to become disillusioned when chasing shadows for 90 minutes and touching the ball twice and losing than it is getting on the ball loads, playing positively but losing because you're too open. Kane isn't a stupid guy, he will know jose if given time could get us a trophy but its a tightrope right now as to how much longer kane will put up with being here and not winning anything. I'm not worried about him or his fitness or form or sharpness, i am worried if we run him into the ground again so i hope son starts up front in a few of the games especially if top 5 is out of sight we need to not run him into the ground again and then get a top back-up in the summer window.

Some of the comments are so fucking Talksport.
I don't mind the pure business idealists. The moment you become sentimental about a footballer you end up with all the teenage pining (like we had with Eriksen) The games moved on.

This bollocks about Kane wanting to move because of formations ... He's been out six months and looked like then tin man on his return and now, people bleeting on about the fact he'll want to move because the wicked witch of the west won't funnel the play into his feet after one game ...

I feel a mass player exodus is on its way. ?

It completely ignores the fact some of the best strikers in the game have been happy to play how Jose instructs.
It's just projecting, it's what some fans want to happen.

I'd like Harry to be involved more. I'll probably give it until into next season before I start peddling readers digest stories about his body language and why he might leave. I mean the first reason he'd probably want to leave is sunshine, golf, bank balance, trophies ... Not in that particular order mind you.

Edit: I'd still sell this summer if the bid was worthy. My view hasn't changed. I just don't believe he'd leave because boo Jose, boo.

Hot take, Poch system was fantastic and fun but the constant running was burning out Kane. Poch pretty much admits his system leeches the energy from his players and they can't do it year on year. You need new bodies. So, in this system under Jose might Kane actually be able to elongate his career.

A secondary issue with Kane is he has a touch of the Rooney about him. He needs to hold his position rather than think he's the best at most outfield positions (even if in some cases it might be true).

Snag with this is he simply doesn't get to touch the ball . I understand he had zero touches of the ball within the oppo penalty area vs Utd .
