Winks and lo celso play well together. If ndombele was fit, these 3 would be superb in a 3 man centre midfield

Can you lads take this fuckin Fernandes Lo Celso shit outside please.
Agreed. It’s fine but to criticise the players we have but the endless bleating about players who either didn’t want to come to us or were deemed unsuitable by 2 successive managers are getting boring.

Let’s hope for the best this year and judge Jose on where we finish next year. PS the year ends in 1 next time around and we all know what that means...

Poor defending for their goal
Dier and Tanganga
but some of the best football
I've seen from Spùrs
since forever.
Lo Celso, Dele, Moura, Winks and Berwijn
all playing as if
they know each other.

I'm guessing this game is not readily available in the UK, hence the lack of comments here. Some first half observations:

-Energy levels are much better today than recent matches. Wolves, however, have looked very tired. They are usually much more energetic in their pressing, but they've played midweek in Europa the last two weeks, so they could fade even more as this match wears on.

-The quick interchanging of passing by Lo Celso, Aurier, Winks, Bergwijn, and Moura has been very good. Aurier has been at the center of both goals.

-Lo Celso's ability to get on the ball and relieve pressure is an enormous asset. His long range passing and ability to hit switch play passes really helps.

-Back three have struggled when Wolves have put on a bit of pressure. If Wolves pressed more aggressively up the pitch, they'd have more success. Doesn't seem they have energy levels today. The lack of Alderweireld also seems to be leading to fewer long balls from the CB position, and more slow build-up from Winks/Lo Celso.

Right, team talk at half time - Don't sit back and invite pressure, you are simply incapable of keeping the ball out of the net so don't do it ! If you do you're asking for trouble, avoid giving as many corners as you can away because again every time the ball comes into our box from a corner we always look like conceding.
If you want anything out of this game you simply must squeeze them up into their half and play there.

Very encouraging first half that, looks like Jose putting Davies as a LWB and Dier dropping in between the CB's has outwitted Nuno a little bit here, not bad for a manager who has absolutely no tactical nous.

Lots of positives in that half. The attack looks more balanced with dele finally getting into that central position more frequently

But why oh why play Dier ahead of Toby when Lloris is out and Tanganga making a rare start at CB. So many defensive problems just because these players are not used to each other in these roles
I think Dier been very good today. He reads the game well and has done well up against Traore. The couple of times he has been one on one with him he has dealt with it

Played alright on the whole. Very well the 1st 20' but we certainly dropped for the 2nd 20 minutes and they leveled. Went back on top the final 5' and Serge had a really great goal to put us back in front.

A more positive half of football for what seems months. Traore has been handled well, Dier as much as I hate to say it has been pretty decent as the experience in the back and we look a bit brighter in midfield.

Hmmm.

The stampede to stick the boot into one of this seasons established scapegoats at the first opportunity is like the Oklahoma Land Rush of 1889

Rollercoaster. First 20 mins decent, actually getting up the pitch and playing some football!

After 20 minutes it was like we forgot how to play once again, just totally under the cosh and with little idea or impetus. Only to then go ahead out of the blue just before the break.

Defensively is where a lot of the problems are stemming from though, no one really looks at ease, maybe understandably with this personnel. We effectively become a 5-2-3 when we haven't got the ball, and it's very disjointed. We're often seeing a classic case of 'too many cooks', defenders getting in each others way or not taking charge and bizarrely still our fullbacks tucking in way too narrow, three attackers up front not really dropping in, two little midgets lost in a vast expanse in the midfield. We'll have to address our defensive shape second half.
